However, when Momoa first entered the audition thinking he was playing the character of Batman, Snyder cast him as the King of Atlantis. Henry Cavill was Superman in Zack Snyder’s DC Extended Universe. But before that, that actor auditioned for Batman in Nolan’sBatman Begins. The role was up for grabs, with Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal and Christian Bale in the running. Unfortunately, Cavill’s run as Superman was short-lived, and he never really got to play Batman either. Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer

Cillian Murphy

Before Murphy was scaring people with his fear toxin as Scarecrow, he was in the running for the role of Batman in Christopher Nolan’s trilogy. Having been beat out by Christian Bale, the actor went on to essay the role of Jonathan Crane. While the new DCU could be an opportunity for the actor to play Batman again, given that the Batman that James Gunn wishes to present will be a little older, already with Damian under his wing. Murphy could essay the role, and perhaps fulfill his aspirations to play the Caped Crusader.

Scott Adkins

AnotherBvSauditionee, Adkins was one of the actors who were in the running to play Bruce Wayne in the DCEU. Adkins would, of course, lose out on the role to Ben Affleck, moving on to other smaller projects likeThe Legend of Hercules, while also making appearances in smaller capacities in other superhero franchises likeDoctor Strange. The actor has also been a part of many an action flick, making him a great contender for the Caped Crusader, now that the character is up for grabs again.
