Vaults are nothing new to the world ofFortnite, but they’ve changed a bit in Chapter 4 Season 2. You’ll find a few vaults in fixed locations on the map. You’ll then have to beat a nearby boss to gain the vault’s keycard and open it up.

We’ve seen Fortnite try all kind of things with vaults. At one point they were quite prevalent on the island. Limiting them to three for the entire map increases the value of those three named locations. Vaults always have a lot of good loot inside. Whether you’re looking for cutting-edge weaponry or excellent healing items, you can find them inside a vault.
Vault Locations
In the northern, snowy section of the map you can find a vault at Brutal Bastion. In the southwestern portion of the map, you can find a vault at Shattered Slabs. In the southeastern section of the map, you can find a vault at the newest point of interest, MEGA-City. There is also a bit of a bonus vault, though it isn’t strictly located on the map. Late within a match, a new floating island will appear often referred to as loot island. For this vault, you only need two standard keys. It doesn’t really operate like the standard vaults but was worth mentioning here as something of a bonus vault.

Obtaining The Keycard
To obtain the keycard, you’ll need to stick around the location for a little while. Highcard and his henchmen have the keycard on them, but they don’t show up at the start of the match. Instead, you’ll have to wait around until you’ve received your second or third augment for them to appear. Once they appear, you’ll be able to see their icon on the minimap. Track them down and go to work on them!
Defeating Highcard & His Henchmen
This boss and his two henchmen aren’t exactly pushovers, but they’re pretty standard enemies. Highcard himself has a powerful gun, a lot of shields, and a lot of health. However, if you’re coming to the fight fully loaded and fully shielded, you should be able to come out on top of this fight.
Pick Up The Keycard
Highcard is going to drop a shiny mythic gun for you to pick up, and it’s easy to get distracted by it. If you’re aiming to open the vault don’t forget to pick up the mini keycard sitting on the ground. It’s easy to overlook.

Open The Vault
If you’re having trouble finding the vault, equip the keycard, and it will lay down a path for you. Just follow the path, and you’ll be at the vault in no time. Once you’re there, just use the keycard to get in!
Loot The Goods
Once that vault doors opens, go wild! Open everything and anything. Break down the piles of gold, so you can fill your pockets. Don’t leave anything behind if you can help it. Vaults are filled with highly valuable items, and you don’t want anything sitting around for a potential rival to pick up.
