Luminous Productions has just released a deep-dive trailer for its upcoming JRPG,Forspoken, detailing some of the activities players can dive into while exploring the world of Athia. The trailer also showcases spellcraft challenges that allow players to make their abilities even more powerful.
Having released two extended trailers dedicated to Forspoken’sparkour systemandcombat mechanics, the development team dropped yet another trailer for the action RPG, focusing on exploration, activities, and locations such as Locked Labyrinths and Founts of Blessing.
As seen in the trailer, Frey will explore many detours along the way, including formidable challenges. Starting with monuments, Frey will be rewarded with boosts to her stats if she can free them from corruption. Each monument gives a different boost, ranging from health to magic power. Some of those monuments will be located in hard-to-reach areas of Athia that will test players' parkour abilities.
Perhaps most interestingly, some monuments hold flashback challenges that take players back in time when accepted. Flashbacks will task players with killing enemies within a time limit, protecting citizens, or reaching a destination to test their parkour skills. Players will be rewarded with Mana, which can be used to unlock new spells when they complete Flashbacks. They will also be able to replay those Flashbacks later on their journeys.

Forspoken’s Founts of Blessing, pools of water that give players a new spell to work into their moveset whenever they find one, can be found all over Athia, and each has a resonance indicating its location. Spellcraft Challenges are another way to upgrade Frey’s abilities. Players will find many ancient books, which will task them with completing varied challenges. Completing the challenges will reward them with upgrades for their abilities.
The world of Athia also features Locked Labyrinths, consisting of wide rooms and corridors where players will take on deadly enemies. Exploring Locked Labyrinths will reward players with items and materials that can be used for crafting. Moreover, players will collect old coins along their way on the surface, and they can use those coins at trading spots to get new items.
Players can also gain battle boosts by rolling dice-like objects called Partha. However, players should not rely on these boosts, as they are temporary.
You can find all the details about activities on the officialblog post. Forspoken is now available to pre-order on Steam and the PlayStaion Store for $70. The action RPG will launch for PlayStation 5 and PC early next year on January 24.
