The floodgates have opened on Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Since the reveal trailer and subsequent gameplay first look at Summer Game Fest, current and former developers have been teasing various aspects of The Veilguard, clearly eager to do so after a decade of silence.

The latest snippet of information comes courtesy of Mary Kirby, a writer who spent 17 years at BioWare before losing her role due to restructuring last year. Kirby is responsible for writing Lucanis Dellamorte, one of the companions in Veilguard.

A user on X (formerly Twitter) questioned which member of the new companion lineup would be the “hottest mess.” Kirby wason hand to provide an answer, “Oh, it’s Lucanis, hands down. He is the sole dumpster fire of the crew. I wrote him specifically to be a bisexual disaster of a human. You’re welcome.”

Ok, I’m Officially Excited For Dragon Age: The Veilguard

The hype is building.

Since the announcement that companions in Dragon Age: The Veilguardwould be playersexual, i.e. the player can romance any one of them, the community has been rampant with speculation about the personalities of each of these companions. The ageing necromancer Emmrich Volkarin has been described as ‘sensual’, already making the Nevarran a fan-favourite.

Game director Corinne Busch has also revealed that companions can romance each other if the player doesn’t show interest. “I might be playing a straight male character flirting with Harding, but I choose not to pursue a romance. She might get together with Taash,” Busch toldIGN.

Lucanis Dellamorte is a high-ranking Antivan Crow, the world-famous assassin’s guild. He first appeared in the short story The Wigmaker Job from the anthology novel Tevinter Nights. It’s been confirmed that Dellamorte is a rogue, something that could be inferred from his occupation.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard doesn’t have a concrete release date, with BioWare announcing that the latest instalment in the beloved series would be released in ‘Fall 2024’.
