Forever Skies, an action-survival game from developer Far From Home, has had its planned release date pushed back. Initially, the game was supposed to launch in early access before the end of the year. However, Forever Skies will now be entering early access sometime during the first half of 2023.

After the release of its Steam Next Fest demo in October, the studio received a lot of constructive and positive criticism. This caused Far From Home to reevaluate what features the team wanted in place at launch. They wish to expand the scope of the game with new content, including locations, customization options, and an airship damage-repair system.

Players who tried out the demo version of Forever Skies as part of Steam Next will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on the post-apocalyptic survival game, as it has been delayed into 2023. Far From Home hasshared its future plansfor the game to give players a clearer idea of what to expect from early access, “We’re now looking at a much larger influx of players picking up the game during Early Access than originally predicted.” the development team shared in the post.

In the universe of Forever Skies, people live on airships flying above a post-apocalyptic world. There is a noxious layer of dust beneath the airships and Far From Home wants to create more content related to what’s “under the dust” before entering early access. The team’s initial plans to add these locations with a major update in early access have now changed to developing them pre-launch.

In addition to creating new locations for variety’s sake, the developers aim to improve two locations shown off in the demo with new reasons to explore them before the game’s initial launch. As outlined in the announcement, Far From Home will flesh out new customization options for players to personalize their ships, such as modules, accessories, and tools. “Your airship is your home and sanctuary in Forever Skies, so we want players to feel like they can really make each feel like their own custom creation.”

Forever Skies is planned to release for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC via Steam.
