WhileHouse of the Dragonis the perfect example of what a spin-off should be like, fans can not help but agree that the show is a little slow when compared to the OGGame of Thrones.Don’t get us wrong,House of the Dragonis perfect in its own way, but a little more action and adrenaline wouldn’t hurt, right? Well, it looks like the spin-off heard our pleas.
House of the Dragonseason 2 has finally released its fourth episode titled,‘The Red Dragon and The Gold.’This was enough hint for viewers to realize that Meleys and Sunfyre were going to have prominent roles in the episode, but little did we know what was going to unfold right in front of our eyes.
House of the DragonHas Outdone Itself
Fans have been complaining about the women inHouse of the Dragonbeing much weaker in comparison to their book counterparts who wouldn’t shy away from violence and ruthlessness. However, in episode four, Eva Best’s Princess Rhaenys proved everyone wrong.
When Queen Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) returns to Dragonstone after her meeting with Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke), she volunteers to take her dragon, Syrax, to Rook’s Rest. However, Rhaenys steps in and takes the responsibility upon herself, stating,“You must send me.”And thus, the Queen That Never Was and the Red Queen fly into battle together.
While the entire episode is incredible, it is the last chunk where all the juicy action happens.

Back in Rook’s Rest, Criston Cole’s (Fabien Frankel) army is advancing when he realizes that the enemy has entered the scene. She and her dragon burn Cole’s men and cause havoc on the field. While everything seemed to be going for Team Black, Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney) and his dragon Sunfyre surprised everyone by showing up unannounced. What ensues next is a fight fans won’t forget for years to come.
Meleys seems to have the upper hand on Sunfyre, but Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) and his beast Vhagar fly into the fight, much to Aegon’s pleasant surprise. However, his happiness is quite limited as Aemond shouts ‘Dracarys’and Vhagar’s powerful fire engulfs both Meleys and Sunfyre both. While Rhaenys manages to fly away, both Aegon and Sunfyre are badly hurt as they fall from the sky.
Even though Rhaenys could have escaped the scene unscathed, she turned into the queen we know she was capable of being and pulled a U-turn back into the fight. Unfortunately, due to the size difference between the two dragons, it doesn’t take long for Vhagar to defeat Meleys, and both the dragon and the rider are seen falling to the ground, defeated.
Clearly, the episode proved everyone who ever doubted the show’s ability to live up toGame of Throneswrong. Not only was A Dance of Dragons the best episode to date in the spin-off, but it was also one of the best episodes in the entire franchise.
Fans Are Going Crazy Over the Episode
When the fans turned their screens on to watch the episode, they probably did not expect where the story would go next. Almost every single one of the viewers was taken aback by how well-written and well-executed the episode was, especially the last fight.
