How To Get Dark Matter
In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, there are a total of eight opportunities to get Dark Matter. By achieving a high score in specific mini-games, Cloud will be rewarded with the grand prize: Dark Matter. Many take place within the Gold Saucer, but there are several others spread throughout Cloud’s journey.

Dolphin Show - Under Junon
When Cloud and his crew arrive at the town buried beneath Junon, he will meet Priscilla and her good friend Mr. Dolphin. As the time draws near for the party to ascend from Under Junon in an attempt to meet with Rufus, Cloud must ride Mr. Dolphin through an obstacle course of sorts to build up speed and launch him into the tanker. This activity becomes a mini-game and Cloud’s first opportunity to score Dark Matter. In order to do so, have Cloud navigate Mr. Dolphin’s course to earn a rank III score and take home the Dark Matter prize. Remember: avoid hitting the floating posts.
Gold Saucer - Kujata Stampede, Galactic Saviors, G-Bike, And 3D Brawler
Much likethe original Final Fantasy 7, Rebirth features a grand vacation at the Gold Saucer. Within the confines of the fluorescent wonderland, Cloud will find four separate mini-games that feature Dark Matter as prizes. In G-Bike (which is a sim of the infamous bike adventure from the original and Remake), Cloud needs to reach Rank II on Expert. Likewise, in Galactic Rangers, a shmup mini-game, the Rank II expert tier will yield Dark Matter.
One of the biggest side activities in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is Chocobo racing, which also plays an important role in the narrative. During the Kujata Stampede event in the Chocobo Racing arena, Cloud can earn a Dark Matter by claiming victory. The last Dark Matter in the Gold Saucer comes from knocking out Shiva in the 3D Brawler game. Much like the Fort Condor mini-game, 3D Brawler morphs Cloud into his retro-polygonal figure and requires him to attack and dodge in the proper directions. Defeating Shiva is not the easiest of tasks, as Cloud will need to swat three enemies before.
Gold Rush - Corel Prison
Fans of Final Fantasy 7 Remake will remember the whack-a-box mini-game Cloud participated in with the youngsters of the slums. For better or worse, it is back in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and Cloud will need to successfully achieve Rank II on ‘Challenging’ to earn the final Dark Matter on this list. Find a strategy that works well and swing away at the towers of boxes. Eventually, Cloud will score enough points to return to his business at hand. If the scenario is causing a lot of trouble, experiment with a new approach and see what works best.
Cactuar Crush III & IV - Corel Region
After running amok of Dio and some unplanned violence in the Golden Saucer, Cloud and his friends find themselves trapped with the Corel Desert prison. Hitting 4,000 points and achieving Rank III and IV in Cactuar Crush III and IV, respectively, Cloud can quickly pull in two additional Black Matter opportunities. Learning how to deal with each Cactuar type will help expedite Yuffie and Aerith’s victories, so be sure to learn what is effective against each type of Cactuar.
