I Want A Final Fantasy 7 Timeline Where Aerith And Zack Live
They deserve a happier ending.
Barret is able to take the enemy’s attention and protect those around him while also surviving even the most devastating attacks from enemies. While Barret is a bit more balanced than other characters, his best position in the party is that of the tank. For the sake of this list, the weapons and their unique abilities will be judged together.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
7Vulcan Cannon
A True Run-And-Gun Weapon
The Vulcan Cannon is a more Magic-focused weapon, with physical damage taking a bit more of a backseat than with other guns. With Barret being one of the more balanced party members, this weapon is a decent option for those using him as a backline spell caster.
This weapon’s unique ability is Charging Uppercut, which delivers a large amount of damage and has a good range for a melee attack. While this ability is good, it is contradictory to Barret’s playstyle of attacking further away from enemies with either his gun or Magic. While this ability does launch smaller enemies, Barret isn’t the best at juggling and can’t fully take advantage of a knockup.

6Fafnir Rifle
Very High-Focused Magic
The Fafnir Rifle is a more magic focused weapon for Barret, with Attack taking a back seat. While Barret isn’t a traditionally magic-heavy character, this weapon can help even out his stats to make him a very viable mage-tank.
This weapon’s unique ability is Point Blank, which uses all ATB to damage and launch a nearby enemy backwards. The more ATB used, the more damage done, only Barret doesn’t move much towards a nearby enemy. While this ability can do a lot of damage, it can be difficult to land a hit, and another ability achieves the same goal only much more effectively.

5Battle Cry
A Powerful One-Note Ability
The Battle Cry has a focus on Physical damage, and is one of the better physical weapons for Barret in the game. While this gun may seem useful on paper, it’s achieved very late in the game, and its ability greatly holds it back.
Turbulent Spirit fills your ATB gauge quickly but can only be used once per battle. While it does save MP, this ability is not as useful as the Haste Materia, as this ability will most often be used in longer boss battles where it would need to be used more than once. This ability would be more helpful early in the game when MP is more scarce, but towards the end of the game, an MP Up Materia can make Barret use Haste many more times than usual.

4Gattling Gun
A Well-Balanced Beginning
The Gattling Gun is the first weapon Barret will already have at the start of the game. Despite being his starter weapon, it is well balanced between Physical and Magic damage, which works well as Barret is fairly balanced as is.
10 Best Final Fantasy Protagonists, Ranked
Final Fantasy spans many titles and has an enormous amount of characters. These are the best protagonists in the series.
This weapon’s unique ability is Focused Shot, which uses up all ATB to fire off a single powerful blast. This ability excels when players have enough ATB and can even take advantage of a third ATB bar with the rightSynergy Attackbonus. The only downside is players won’t be able to save a second ATB if another action is needed, but a simple fix is using that second ability first.

3Calamitous Bazooka
Powerful AOE With Knockback
The Calamitous Bazooka focuses more on physical damage but still doesn’t leave Magic behind. This has multiple Materia slots, but none of them are connected, leading to a more one-note style with equipped Materia.
This weapon’s unique ability is Smackdown, which releases a powerful AOE attack that deals a surprising amount of damage. While this ability is good, it will require players to get closer to enemies than a ranged character would like, but the knockback can help clear out any enemies affected.

2Hi-Caliber Rifle
The Highest Physical Damage
The Hi-Caliber Rifle has the highest Physical damage of any of Barret’s guns and is perfect for those willing to have Magic take a back seat. With this high damage output, players can focus other upgrades and items on being tanky and defending and attacking for the party.
The unique ability is Bonus Round, which loads special bullets into the gun that deal extra stagger. While other abilities also deal extra stagger, the 20 special bullets offer a lot more flexibility in divvying them up between smaller enemies or missing a few to hit a fast-moving enemy who can dodge a Focused Shot.
1Barrage Blaster
Make Barret The Tank He Is
The Barrage Blaster has a bit more focus on Physical damage, but it still offers a good bit of Magic for those wanting to use every tool at Barret’s disposal. This weapon does only have four Materia slots, but the right accessory can give Barret more Materia than he needs.
What really makes this weapon the best is its ability, Lifesaver. This ability not only increases Barret’s health but also absorbs incoming damage from nearby allies. This ability lets Barret fully play his role in the party, absorbing lots of damage and protecting the weaker party members while they focus on dealing damage. With a few HP UpMateria,Barret can become incredibly tanky and absorb any amount of damage coming his way from this ability.
