With Cait’s cute features and charming accent, it’s hard not to fall in love with this character instantly. The group meets him when he’s suspiciously helpful during their time at the Golden Saucer. While he’s certainly an affable presence, there’s also more to him than meets the eye.
Cait earns a place on this list by being so likable and, well, just wanting to have some friends. Beneath his jovial exterior exists a bit of a lonely soul who comes to really love all of the other party members. This whale-like creature took her into the lifestream, and in that moment she witnessed a war between the planet and the whispers. For her, this brings a new understanding of the planet and the stakes of the group’s mission. She’s a fierce warrior and true friend.

Aerith’s people were protectors of the planet, and as the last one alive, she has a lot of weight on her shoulders. Shinra believes she can lead them to the promised land, which they want to exploit. Aerith, and her connection to the lifestream, is a beacon of hope for the party and the world. More than that, she’s the kind of character who always has a kind word and unending encouragement for her friends. That’s why Aerith tops this list.
