Sean “Diddy” Combs has been in the news since last year for all the wrong reasons, but before the controversy began, he had one of the most successful careers in the industry. During his early days, he was known to work hard and eventually became a music mogul with his own record label.

So, let’s explore Diddy’s past, his rise to fame, and the challenges he faced along the way. Many would be surprised to know that the man who has been accused of several heinous things, once cried due to exploiting his position.
Diddy’s early desires and struggles to be recognized
Diddyalways desired the success and fame that came with being in the music industry, and his ambitions knew no bounds. He desperately wanted to join Andre Harrell’s company, Uptown Records (viaCheat Sheet). According to him, it was the perfect launchpad for his career.
The rapper would show up at unexpected places to grab Harrell’s attention and did everything within his bounds to get a break. According to one of his friends, Diddy even slept outside Harrell’s car. He figured that networking with big names could lead to a lucrative opportunity.

Uptown Records was a representation of everything that Diddy wanted to achieve. One day, his determination paid off, and he secured an internship at the company. This marked the beginning of his career, and he would eventually go on to create several hits, amass millions of dollars, and contribute to the hip-hop and R&B scene.
Rise to power: Diddy’s inner turmoil
Diddy’s’ rise in the company was meteoric, and he seemed to be working extremely hard. But this success was also met with friction when his colleagues expressed disapproval of his relentless drive. People began to find his approach to be abrasive, and the rapper admitted his feelings about the same in a 1995Rolling Stoneinterview.
I cried for a couple days and felt like I wanted to jump off a building. I think at times I was hard to work with.… Possibly I was doin’ shit that an asshole would do, just abusing the power. But that was only a little bit of the time.

He admitted to crying and feeling low about the situation and accepted that he was perhaps a bit too harsh at his workplace. But despite all the criticism from his co-workers, Diddy continued his journey and became a mega-star, only for it all to come crashing down with legal troubles and accusations.
