While other hunters and our protagonist have been doing everything to save humankind, it turns out the monsters are not the real threat. Even Sung Jinwoo has realized how power plays a major role in the world, and that those with power are above everything, even the law.

However, having such immense faith and putting them on a high pedestal makes it immensely terrifying.
Even the Chief Inspector of the Hunter’s Association mentioned how the law is helpless when it comes to dealing with the S-Ranks, as they hold the power to bring forth either“miracle or calamity.”With the series focusing so closely on power dynamics, it flaunts Charles Darwin’s theory of survival of the fittest, where the strong would enjoy privileges, including ruling over the weak.

As the series states, the Hunter industry is a multi-billion dollar industry that guarantees that each raid would fill the pockets of a Hunter. The series gave instances of how guilds do business, where they buy and sell profitable dungeons, where they can collect valuable resources.
Before Sung Jinwoo unlocked his hidden potential, he witnessed how the hunters would forget their morals and ethics inside the dungeon, letting greed take over them. Thus, they would not mind killing fellow hunters and taking their part of the loot as well. Our protagonist, who also happens to be a hunter, would risk his life to give a better life to his sister and save his dying mother.

Even early on in the series, he states how if he had some money, he would have bought better gear to increase his chance of survival.
