Fallout 4 fans can’t wait to get stuck into the long-awaited and highly anticipated mod that’s been under development for years now, but, unfortunately, it hasn’t been plain sailing for Team Folon. After the fan-made Fallout London mod had to delay its release due to Bethesda releasing an update forFallout 4which made the mod unplayable, the team is now faced withcompatibility issueson the Epic Game store, meaning it can’t be played via the launcher.

In what seems like one nightmare after another for the developers at Folon, they hope that the mod’s final launch will actually be worth the hard graft and sweat because if not, the plan is to “go to sleep, and vanish from society.”

Fallout London Developers “Waiting For The Green Light” To Release The Mod

The ‘game-sized’ mod will be released on GOG.

In an interview withMetro, Team Folon’s project lead Dean Carter chats about the complications they have faced in getting the Fallout London mod finally into the wilds, once and for all. In what Carter called a “nightmare”, after having to ask players to downgrade their Fallout 4 copies so the mod would work, they are now waiting with bated breath to see if their bad luck continues when it releases.

“If it’s an awful launch, then we’ll probably all just go to sleep, and vanish from society.” expressed Carter, and who the hell could blame them? Due to signing non-disclosure agreements, Carter can’t let slip when the mod will launch just yet, but it has been sent to GOG for testing, so the team is in the process of an anxious wait until they get the green light and is hopeful that, if everything goes to plan, it should be set free within the next couple of weeks.

Making a mod of this scale certainly isn’t something to be sniffed at. Not only does Fallout London have between 100-130 voice actors taking part in its cast, which also includes Baldur’s Gate 3’s Neil Newbon, but the team itself only comprises somewhere between 20–30 people to make all this magic happen. That’s a victory in itself. Carter states that if the mod does go well, the idea of opening an indie studio could be on the cards.

“‘We’re looking at maybe going the indie developer route, which is something that we’ve tried to ensure that we’ve got our foundation in place for if we do want to go that route,” said Carter. “Or maybe we’ll do something more social media based on YouTube and the like.”
