Youtuber and Last of Us 2 fan Speclizer comes in with yet another video showcasing hidden details and this time, we’re at Joels home.
Fans of the game love finding out little details they may have missed or the meaning behind certain things. This time,Speclizerhas created an out-of-bounds video showing areas that players may not have seen inside Joel’s home.
One of the most heartbreaking and emotional scenes in Naughty Dog’sThe Last of Us Part 2(yes, I know, there are many) was when Ellie and Dina made their way back to Joel’s sombre house after his death. As Ellie walks around the bleak and empty home, players get a small insight into how Joel lived but there are plenty of hidden details that can be missed.
In the video, eagled eyed players might have seen a windchime hanging up at the front of Joel’s house that has somewhat of an emotional story behind it. The peaceful decoration, which goes against almost everythingThe Last of Usstands for, can also be found in Joel and Sarah’s house in the very first game.
We then see that Ellie had taken the windchime at some point and placed it in her and Dina’s ranch house which we can see hanging up towards the end ofPart 2. Speclizer also uses their out of bounds talents topan into Joel’s homeduring his last conversation with Ellie. It’s quite the empty space other than a pile-up of washing and mould build-up but I’m fairly sure Joel has more important things on his mind than cleaning at that time.
Some more obvious, less hidden items in Joel’s house is the picture of him and his daughter Sarah found upstairs but do you know how Joel got it? This photograph was shown to Ellie in the firstLast of Usby Maria in which she then stole to give to Joel. When received Joel states “It doesn’t matter how hard you try, I guess you may’t escape your past”.
Another cool little detail is in Joel’s bedroom where there’s a ‘Space’ book beside his bed that indicates that Joel was trying to learn more about Ellie’s favourite subject in an effort to connect better with her.
