There are a lot of things that action legend Arnold Schwarzenegger owns that may not be for the faint of heart. But along with all these eccentric and downright lethal possessions, he’s also known for having a normal collection of valuables.

But one among them was almost enough for the authorities to put him behind bars, which was his Audremas Piguet watch he wore during a flight to Munich. That same watch was later sold at his charity auction, which combined generated a total of $1.6 Million.

While it seems like a small deal, until you realize what he was wearing, and then understand where the authorities were coming from.

When theTotal Recallstar arrived at Munich Airport from Los Angeles, he failed to declare possession of the Audremas Piguet, model unknown, that he had with him at the time. The watch was made by the luxury Swiss watchmaker and cost around $28,000. But his inability to declare his possession first-hand led to him being detained at the airport.

He had to sit there for three hours, during which he was fined a hefty sum of $5,500 on top of a tax of $4,300, paying a total of $38,000 in recriminations, almost 10K more than the watch itself. The Customs officer at the airport had charged Schwarzenegger with criminal tax proceedings, which he immediately accepted to pay for his mistake.

The watch was an important possession for him since it had to be auctioned off at a charity event later in Austria held by The Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative.

How Much Did The Watch Sell For?

Despite paying a hefty sum as fines and penalties, the star wasn’t too perturbed by it since the watch was there for a good cause, and he didn’t want to ruin that.

During the charity auction, there were a lot of other valuable articles for grabs, including several art pieces and his watch. When placed for auction, the watch was sold to the highest bidder and fetched a whopping $292,000. the event in its entirety was able to generate a total of $1.6 Million, which Schwarzenegger pledged would be used to fight pollution.
