It’s been quite some time since we’ve heard rumors regarding a remake ofThe Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Now, it seems that it might be closer than ever.
The initial rumor began circulating during the Microsoft vs. FTC lawsuit, which concerned the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft. Back then, a lot of documents with confidential data about unannounced future projects were leaked, and among them was an Oblivion Remaster, set for release in the fiscal year of 2022.

Later, rumors spread by various insiders and leakers suggested that this remaster project was turned into a full-fledged remake ofThe Elder ScrollsOblivion, delaying the launch.
The Oblivion And Fallout 3 Remasters Sound Like Shameless Money-Grabs
The only people who really need them are Playstation players, but they probably wouldn’t get them anyway.
When Microsoft announced a new Xbox Developer Direct in January, many fans were hoping to finally get an official look at this long-rumored remake project and apotential remake of Gears of War Collection. However, none of that happened.

Today, NateTheHate, who has been a reliable leaker with a good track record, was asked on Xby a user whether he has any news regarding the Oblivion remake. He replied to the question with the following message:
“Either this month or next month. Release is likely to be sooner than the original June target, but still working to get details on an updated release date.”

If this rumor is to be believed, then there should be an official announcement later this month or in April.
A Full Remake Of Oblivion For Generations To Come
Previous rumors suggested thatThe Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake was being developed in Unreal Engine 5and would include gameplay changes and tweaks, such as improvements in HUD, stamina system, sneaking, and combat elements.
We’re not sure which platforms this remake will release, but considering Microsoft’s changing approach to industry, and also the fact that Oblivion was a multi-platform game in the first place, it’s relatively safe to assume that apart from Xbox and PC, PS5 and Nintendo Switch will also host The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion remake.

At least to start, before Bethesda ports it to the Nintendo Switch 2, the next Xbox and PlayStation consoles, Amazon Alexa, and maybe even smart refrigerators!
Bethesda is also hard at workdeveloping The Elder Scrolls VI, which was first revealed in 2018. After the launch of Starfield in 2023, it entered active production. But there has been no word on when we might hear more about it again.
