Strangely, the concept of two different entities originating from one single individual seems to be a repeating idea in the game, as observed with Queen Marika and Radagon as well as Miquella and St. Trina. However, users on social media, such as this one onReddit,speculate another duo who might be the same.

Ranni the Witch, who is the daughter of none other than Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, is one of the most intriguing characters in the whole game. There is a separate quest line dedicated to this NPC, which unlocks a special ending for the player to experience in the end.What gives credit to the aforementioned theory is how Ranni is missing her right eye, while Melina is missing her left eye, making it seem like they are a single person split into two different halves. Furthermore, while Blaidd is the shadow assigned to Ranni, he appears to have the same eye color as Melina’s eye in the Frenzied Flame ending.

Melina is one of the very first few NPCs that the player gets to meet and interact with when they boot up the game. However, much of her origins remain unknown to this very day, leaving fans wondering what her backstory might be.Through her in-game dialogues, it is indicated that she is possibly the daughter of Queen Marika, who gave Melina purpose in her life when she was found at the foot of the Erdtree. Melina acts as our guide and maiden throughout the whole game, and her sacrifice to burn down the Erdtree so we can become the Elden Lord never fails to bring a tear to the eye.
