Crafting in Elden Ring is often forgotten and overlooked. Just like stealth, it is an incredible feature people got excited for then reverted to the simple ways of handling problems. Crafting allows you a plethora of items that can easily turn the tide in battle.

Often builds suffer from following one damage affinity or the other, but items can help expand your capabilities. Items can also help get your more runes or supplies to be better equipped for the next fight. Here are 10 items you need to start crafting right away.
10Fire Pot
Starting off with a classic, the fire pot is a Soulsborne veteran. Mildly scaling off your strength and dexterity, the fire pot can be flung at enemies for fire damage and a mild AOE attack. While the damage isn’t substantial, the ability to do ranged fire damage without the use of FP helps both magic and physical builds.
Many physical-only builds suffer from the lack of affinity damage, and carrying fire pots into battle will help them branch out to an enemy’s potential weakness. you’re able to carry up to 20 fire pots at a time.

9Poisonbone Dart
Status build-ups are a solid choice against many enemies and especially in PVP. While darts are visible, another player may lose sight of it in the heat of battle and either initiate or further a poison buildup.
While each dart’s individual build-up isn’t much, being able to carry 40 darts in total and throw them fast makes up for the deficit. These darts also inflict slight damage, making them a perfect addition to melee-only builds.

8Crystal Dart
Crystal darts are thrown at enemies to inflict magic damage. The damage does scale off of intelligence, making it a nice addition to magic builds but may be overlooked for other spells that do more damage and do not use resources.

Crystal darts do cost 1 FP to throw, but at such an amount it is rare this will be a substantial amount. Being able to carry 40 darts in total, this will often not use a regular characters full bar of FP, and can leave some left over for Ashes of War to be used also.
7Preserving Boluses
Status build-ups in Elden Ring are very strong, but that goes both ways. Getting inflicted by a status effect can quickly lead to death. Scarlet Rot, introduced in this game, does significant damage over a short time.
One Preserving Boluses can alleviate a bar of buildup, or cure someone who is already inflicted with the Rot. A large supply of these is almost necessary to trek across the Lake of Rot, and being able to carry 99 mean scarlet Rot can be a fear of the past.

6Stanching Boluses
Much like Preserving Boluses, these have the same effect but towards Bleed.Bleed in this gameinflicts damage to the player based on their max percentage of health. If you already have low health from the attacks that build up bleed, the status effect may be your last nail in the coffin.
Bleed status weapons and effects dominate the PVP arena, and should you get invaded you’ll want some of these in your pocket. On the flip side, if you want to do some invading yourself, might as well prepare properly for a potentially pesky enemy.

5Warming Stone
Most players don’t explore the Lands Between alone. Be it summoning other players, NPCs, or Spirits, fighting with allies is always beneficial. Extended summons eventually have the HP bar worn down, and if they are unable to heal themselves they may be out of luck.
With a healing stone, you use your own FP to drop on and heal everything nearby for a few seconds. Everything means everything, so pick your placement wisely. This may not have the best combat potential but is perfect for short rests in cleared-out areas.

4Soft Cotton
Exploration in Elden Ring is not only pushed but very beneficial. Fall damage was greatly reduced to allow players to use the new jump mechanic to either climb up or fall down to new areas. While fall damage was reduced, it does still exist.
Soft Cotton temporarily reduces potential fall damage, and the sound of your landing. This item is beneficial for both exploration and stealth if you need to drop near an enemy quietly. You’re able to carry 99 Soft Cottons, and that would be just enough to start exploring this massive open world.
3Silver-Pickled Fowl Foot
Discovered items in Elden Ring are those dropped by enemies. These can range from easily forgotten items to possibly some of the best weapons in the game. Your player starts with a discovery of 100, and using this item increases your discovery by 50 points.
Leveling up your Arcane stat increases your discovery by 1 point, meaning this item gives you the benefits of 50 levels of arcane. There are many powerful weapons that can be farmed from enemy drops, and this item can help save you a ton of time.
2Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot
Leveling upis the easiest and most straightforward way of making your character stronger. Being able to pick with the stat you increase allows you to accurately decide what needs a bonus to round out your character. Buying consumables or upgrading your weapons also helps strengthen your character, but it all costs so many runes.
Leveling up can start to take a lot of runes, and the Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot can help you get more runes and save more time farming. This item temporarily boosts the number of runes you earn by 30%, helping boost your usual farming methods. Getting more runes is the baseline in this game for getting stronger and this item helps you get more, faster.
1Frozen Raisin
Elden Ring is a massive open world full of many field bosses found while exploring. A massive benefit to these field bosses is the ability to fight themwhile on horseback, that is until your horse gets hit one too many times.
This item can be used on horseback to heal Torrent, either standing still or slowly galloping. While this doesn’t provide the most amount of health, Torrent is fast to make the distance between you and a fight to heal him a few times before charging back in.
