Timothée Chalamet and the ensemble vast of 2021’sDuneare set to return in the sequel to the hit sci-fi epic directed by Denis Villeneuve. The first film successfully set up the world created by Frank Herbert’s graphic novel. Despite the film being released on Max the same day it was released in theatres, the film was a commercial success and won 6 Oscars.
The 2021 film boasted an excellent ensemble cast led by Chalamet along with Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, and Jason Momoa among others. When it came to their salaries for the film, Chalamet, and Momoa were paid handsomely while the female actors were paid lesser compared to them.

The film was a success at the box office and managed to win in various technical categories at the Oscars. The film included many A-list stars includingJason Momoa, Zendaya,Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, etc and many of them are returning for the sequel which is releasing worldwide in March.
Being the lead, Chalamet was paid the highest among the cast, receiving $2.2 million for his role as Paul Atreides. Momoa, who was fresh off of the success of 2018′Aquaman, came in second place, earning $2 million for his role as Duncan Idaho. However, the women in the film received less compared to them. Zendayaand Ferguson received $300,000 and $500,000 for their roles as Chani and Lady Jessica respectively. Their reduced pay is due to their limited roles in the film. However, they have a bigger role in the sequel and are expected to be paid more for that, especially Zendaya, who is essentially the second lead ofDune: Part Two.

Recently, directors Christopher Nolan and Denis Villeneuve sat down and interviewed each other about their work, especially forDune: Part Two(viaYouTube). Nolan had high praise for the film comparing it toStar Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Villeneuve was extremely happy with his compliment and talked about it in an interview withGamesRadar+.

“It’s a comparison that I would have never dared to do myself. I think it’s a beautiful compliment because Empire Strikes Back is by far my favorite Star Wars movie. So, it’s like, coming from Chris [Nolan], an incredible compliment.”
Villeneuve has started writing the third part which will beDune: Messiah. However, he has expressed his intention to take some time off of theDuneuniverse a do something smaller for his next film.
