Michael B. Jordan’s Erik Killmonger was his third superhero movie role and he received critical acclaim for his role inBlack Panther. Jordan earlier played the voice role of Cyborg in the animated filmJustice League: The Flashpoint Paradoxand the role of Human Torch in the 2015 version ofFantastic Four. However, Killmonger was far superior to his other comic book movie roles and Jordan confidently shared that the villain could’ve taken down Thanos.

Jordan’s comments reappeared on social media recently and fans have been mocking the actor for his overconfidence. However,What If…? Season 2episode ofWhat If… Strange Supreme Intervened?depicted Black Panther Killmonger defeating Thanos at one point.
Michael B. Jordan Receives Troll Comments For Saying Killmonger Can Defeat Thanos
Thanos’s Snap shocked the Marvel fandom to the core whenAvengers: Infinity Warwas released in 2018. Several discussions took place on online forums discussing the different possibilities and ‘what ifs’. One such ‘what if’ scenario was about how Killmonger would have responded to the invasion of Wakanda by Thanos’s army if he had retained his throne. A set of fans believed that Killmonger would have had a brilliantly evil plan to take out the Mad Titan.
Michael B. Jordanwas asked about the same when he appeared in Los Angeles during his MBJAM charity event in support of Lupus LA. Jordan revealed to The A.V. Club that it was the first time he had heard about the scenario. TheCreedactor shared that Killmonger had a shot at winning if he stepped into a situation with Thanos because he always attacked with a well-thought-out plan. Michael B. Jordan shared withThe A.V. Club:

“This is the first I’m hearing of it. I think the one thing about Killmonger is he really plans his attacks, and they’re well thought out. So if he ever stepped in a situation with Thanos, he would feel confident that he had the upper hand—at the very least, he would know he had a shot. So I mean, we already know that Erik’s willing to sacrifice himself for a greater good, so I don’t think he’s ever fearful of losing his life. So I think if he ever stepped in front of Thanos, he’d already have a plan for taking him down.”
When the comment reappeared on the X page, @MarveIFacts, fans showed no mercy to theJust Mercyactor. Jordan was brutally trolled for his argument that his character could take down Thanos. One fan found the actor“beyond annoying”, while another commented that he was just“yapping”. Fans began commenting on how he couldn’t achieve his goal and was defeated by T’Challa (and a train). Some fan reactions read:

While fans continue to make fun of Jordan, it appears that Marvel has already concurred with Marvel and presented with a possibility. In the finale episode ofWhat If…? Season 2, Captain Carter and Kahhori are running away from Strange Supreme when they encounter Thanos. As he is about to perform the snap, he is turned into ashes by a Black Panther Killmonger variant who has somehow acquired all the stones before Thanos in his world could.
Why Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger Defeating Thanos Is A Rare Possibility?
It is highly unlikely that a more solid plan was feasible against the sudden attack of Thanos’s army. The Avengers not being able to defeat Thanos inAvengers: Infinity Warhad more to do with the mistakes made by some of the Avengers. Theories have been widely discussed about how Peter Quill should have controlled his anger and how Thor should have gone for the head.
Thanos attacked from several fronts, dividing the Avengers unlike any of their previous encounters. The different teams had to think on their feet to fight a villain like Thanos who did not have a cohesive strategy. In this scenario, the one fact that Killmonger would have control over Wakanda couldn’t have changed the outcome of what happened.
In any case, Killmonger vs Thanos would have been an impressive battle to watch.Black Panther,Avengers: Infinity War, and other Marvel movies are now available for streaming on Disney+
