The ray-tracing update was first announced in 2020 and ever since then, fans have been waiting to get their hands on it.

The update brings enhancements for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5 versions of the game so let’s discuss it in detail.

Doom EternalNext Gen Update For Xbox Series X|S and PS5

The freeDoom EternalRTX upgradeis finally rolling out on all platforms today. Owners of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will now see a new option for ray tracing effects and 120fps support making this FPS game even better.

The update is roughly 70 GB in size and currently live so Xbox owners can get it through Smart Delivery. Meanwhile, PlayStation owners can opt for the standard upgrade process on PS5 to get the new version.

TheDoom Eternalray tracing update now offers three graphics settings for PS5 and Xbox Series X.

On Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, players get a Performance mode targeting 120fps, a Balanced mode supporting 4K at 60fps, and a Ray Tracing mode adding new lighting at 60fps.

The Xbox Series S does not have a ray tracing option, but players can still choose between 1080p at 120fps and 1440p at 60fps.
