Donald Trump may have served as the 45th president of the United States previously, but that’s not all that he’s known for. Besides pulling all the stunts that he did as a politician, he is also a rather famous media personality and businessman, and, defying all odds, further holds a reality television show he hosted for fourteen seasons, credited to his name:The Apprentice.

But as famous as the series became among his fans, it seems like Trump wasn’t entirely truthful about it all. This comes amidst an exclusive set of confessions from a former NBC chief, who claimed that he has the proof to expose the former US prez’s statements about his reality show. And, like it or not, these really paint an ugly picture of Trump’s success as a businessman.

Former NBC Chief Claims Donald Trump Lied AboutThe Apprentice

Back in 2004, whenThe Apprenticeoriginally launched, it featured Trump, painted as a real estate magnate, serving as the reality show’s EP cum host. This went on for 14 seasons before he was fired by NBC over his xenophobic remarks about Mexican immigrants during his announcement that he was running for the US president’s position (seeFox News).

However, while he was greatly promoted throughout the time he was connected to the show, it seems like the golden picture painted aroundDonald Trumpwas entirely false. As John D. Miller, who is a former chief marketer for NBC, recently confessed in an op-ed, Trump’s“super-successful businessman”portrait was just a fake narrative created to promote the show.

Revealing that he was the one who led the marketing team forThe Apprentice,Miller wrote:“To sell the show, we created the narrative that Trump was a super-successful businessman who lived like royalty. That was the conceit of the show. At the very least, it was a substantial exaggeration; at worst, it created a false narrative by making him seem more successful than he was.”

The truth, as claimed by the ex-NBC chief, was that Trump had declared business bankruptcy numerous times in real life. This reportedly happened 4 times before the reality show’s production, and at least twice more during the 14 seasons he spent hosting the series. Miller evenclaimedthat the board room shown in the show, where contestants were famously fired, was nothing more than a set as“his real boardroom was too old and shabby for TV.”

Adding to all of these allegations, he claimed in the op-ed shared by US News that his interactions with him made him realize that Trump was“manipulative, yet extraordinarily easy to manipulate”through flattering compliments. Moreover, Miller called Trump“remarkably thin-skinned”as he allegedly“aggressively goes after those who critique him and seeks retribution.”

Miller further said:“I learned early on in my dealings with Trump that he thought he could simply say something over and over, and eventually people would believe it.”He also let out how he believes that the 45th U.S. prez has “questionable judgment“that had him pitching the idea of pitting races against each other on the reality TV show (see all these allegationshere).

At the same time, Miller even shared how he felt Trump“may have been the perfect choice to be the boss of this show,”pointing out how more successful CEOs were actually too busy to get involved in reality TV that would require heck-loads of their time and paint a positive picture of them that wasn’t even true. In conclusion, Miller wrote:“The image of Trump that we promoted was highly exaggerated.”And that is something he sincerely regrets now.

John D. Miller “Deeply Regrets” Promoting This False Picture of Donald Trump

While John D. Miller courageously stepped up to share all these claims about Donald Trump in public without being worried aboutthe possible retaliation, at the same time, he also emphasized how deeply he regrets playing a significant part in all of this. In fact, even his op-ed started with the statement:“I want to apologize to America. I helped create a monster.”

Going forward to candidly admit how painting Trump wrongly was“fake news that we spread over America like a heavy snowstorm”in its own way, he claimed,“I never imagined that the picture we painted of Trump as a successful businessman would help catapult him to the White House,”referring to how this series contributed to Trump’s getting elected as the prez.

Miller wrote:“While we were successful in marketing ‘The Apprentice’, we also did irreparable harm by creating the false image of Trump as a successful leader. I deeply regret that. And I regret that it has taken me so long to go public.”Concluding, he pulled the last cord by endorsingKamala Harrisfor the upcoming 60th quadrennial United States presidential election.

All in all, this series of allegations will inevitably paint Donald Trump in a dark shade of black. What remains to be seen is: How brutally does it bruise him in his battle with Harris amidst the upcoming elections?
