In case you missed it,Metaphor: ReFantazio, the newmedieval fantasy twiston the Persona series' formula, has released a demo that allowsplayers to enjoy the game’s prologue.
This demo allows you to get to grips with the rich tapestry of exposition, lore, and finer details that this fantasy epic dumps on the player in the early hours, and having enjoyed this portion of the game myself, I can say first-hand,it’s an incredible experience.

Every Persona Spinoff Game, Ranked
The Persona series has many spinoffs for the more recent games; here is each Spinoff game, ranked.
However, you may be wondering if this demo allows you to keep the progress you make when you finally get the chance to play the game outright, because we know how irritating it is to have to replay slow, story-focused openings of games all over again. Looking at you,Final Fantasy XVI!
Let me give you the full rundown on the Metaphor ReFantazio demo.
Does Demo Progress Carry Over?
Yes, the Metaphor: ReFantazio demo does save your progress.
This means that when you buy the full game, you may continue from when the prologue ends.
For those unaware, the demo ends the day after you encounter Catherina in The Catacombs, or alternatively, when you have played through three days in-game.If you do meet Catherina, the game will explain how deadlines and various other systems work the day after, but will then cut to an ‘end of prologue’ screen.

While this will trigger the end of the prologue, you can also spend your three days in-game slightly differently, allowing you to access other content. So drop a save file mid-way through, all allowing you to experiment, and potentially uncover new quests and secrets!
The important takeaway here, knowing that your progress carries over, is thatyour character stats, how comprehensively you explore dungeons, and how you spend MAG and Reeve matterwhen playing this demo.

Every Persona Protagonist, Ranked
From Persona 5’s iconic Joker to Yu Narukami of Persona 4, we’ve ranked every protagonist of the mainline Persona series.
So, if you intend to play the demo, with a view toward playing the game in full, be sure to play with purpose, as you’ll have to start over otherwise.

What Does The Metaphor: ReFantazio Demo Include
For those who want a little insight into what the demo includes, the player will get to know the fantasy world they find themselves dropped into, with plenty ofstylish anime-inspired cutscenes to deliver the most important storybeats.
Alongside this, the player will also get to know various important systems that govern how the game will be played beyond the prologue. You’ll learn how Archetypes work, get to explore various dungeons, and you’ll get to fight a handful of bosses.
That being said, not all of these encounters are mandatory. For example, the player can completelymiss the fight with the Fire Dragon Mauna, so be wary of this when exploring the Nord Mines in particular.
The demo is a perfect taster session forMetaphor: ReFantazio. It gives you just enough insight to fall in love with the world, its mechanics, and its systems, but it still leaves much of what is yet to come shrouded in mystery.
So, if you want to play a more traditional JRPG-inspired spin on the Persona blueprint, you need to hop into this demo ahead ofMetaphor: Refantazio’sfull release.
