Coming from Marcus Lehto, co-creator of theHaloseries, the upcoming sci-fi first-person shooterDisintegrationhas a legacy behind it that makes it worth keeping an eye on. Blending together elements of first-person shooters and strategy games,Disintegrationwill be ready to bring players into battle with its launch next month.

Publisher Private Division has announced thatDisintegrationwill officially be releasing for consoles and PC on August 14, 2025 for $49.99, withpre-orders live now on Xbox One and Steam(and coming soon for PS4). Alongside the confirmation of the game’s release date, developer V1 Interactive also shared a new story trailer that gives a look at the game’s single-player campaign, the characters you’ll meet, and the game’s futuristic setting.

The story ofDisintegrationfollows the story of Romer Shoal, an expert gravcycle pilot who leads a band of outlaws to push back against the forces of Rayonne, a militaristic force. Taking place in a world that’s been ravaged by dwindling resources and a failing planet, the single-player campaign ofDisintegrationdives deeper into Shoal’s story as he brings together these resistance forces and try to fight back against Rayonne.

From what we played of the game so far,Disintegrationseems like it has the chance to take first-person shooters into an interesting direction with its integration of more strategical combat. Cameron Hawkins sharedhis own impressions of the game’s multiplayer from PAX West last year, while Otto Kratky previeweda few hours from the game’s single-player campaignand came away impressed by the experience. We also had the chance tointerview V1 Interactive president and creative director Marcus Lehtoto learn more insights from him on the direction of the upcoming shooter. Having played the game myself at PAX East this year,Disintegrationdefinitely seems to have interesting concepts and ideas, with only a little over a month left until it debuts.

Disintegrationwill release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on July 14, 2025.
