Who else will be coming toSuper Smash Bros. Ultimateas DLC? So far, we know the game’s first additional characters arePiranha PlantandPersona 5’sJoker; that being said, many are still speculating who could come to the game next. One popular choice many like to speculate about isDevil May Cry’sDante. Unfortunately, the prospects of this potential crossover seem pretty grim following recent comments toVG247byDevil May Cry 5Director Hideaki Itsuno.

When the outlet first pitched the question to Hideaki, he immediately responded with “I’m pretty sure that they… all the characters inSmashat least have some game on a Nintendo platform, right?” When VG247 brought up Cloud Strife, asFinal Fantasy VIIhadn’t ever been on a Nintendo consoleat the timeof his initial inclusion, Hideaki Itsuno brought up the fact that theFinal Fantasyseries as a whole has a storied history with Nintendo. This isn’t the case forDevil May Cry.

“Well, that’s the thing.Devil May Cryhas never been on a Nintendo platform,” he commented. Hideaki Itsuno says that if people want to see Dante inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, the first step would be to ask Capcom to bring theDevil May Cryseries to Switch. “So it seems like the first thing to do would be to get Capcom to putDevil May Cryon a Nintendo platform in some way, shape, or form – whatever game that might be.”

He then apparently pointed towards a Capcom UK PR representative that was in the room. So, there you have it. If you want the “featuring Dante from theDevil May Cryseries” tag to apply to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, let Capcom know you’d like to see someDevil May Crygames on Nintendo platforms. The lineup for the firstSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighter Passhas already beendecided upon by Nintendothough, so asking them would probably mean that your request would fall on deaf ears.

It’s also worth pointing out that Joker, who was confirmed to be coming as DLC atThe Game Awards, doesn’t have much of a connection to Nintendo platforms outside ofPersona Q2. While it has become clear that nothing is impossible when it comes to aSmash Bros.game’s roster, Dante does now seem fairly unlikely for the time being considering the developers of the series don’t think he makes sense to include. At least we haveDmC: Devil May Cry’sDante inPlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale…

While the two lauded series probably won’t be crossing over anytime soon barring a miracle, you can still pick upSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatefor Nintendo Switch andDevil May Cry 5for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on Amazon.
