While there were numerous remarkable moments in episode 9, one scene, in particular, captured the collective attention of fans worldwide, the beheading of Gyokko. In a stunning display of precision, the head of the formidable Upper Moon 5 Demon is cleanly severed, and his body swiftly turns to ashes. Yet, amidst the exhilaration, a lingering question arises:is this truly the end for Gyokko, or do we have more to witness from the enigmatic Fish Demon?
Let’s face the fact that the reason why fans wonder if Gyokko is really dead is that he was shown to be killed without much effort. The battles between Tengen Uzui and Gyutaro or Rengoku and Akaza were brought to a point where the fans desperately craved the results, and somewhere they felt bad for the struggles of the Demons and Hashiras alike. Even if we look at the battles of the Lower Moon Demons like Rui or Enmu, our heroes struggled to kill them, which made the battles epic. However, nothing of that sort seems to take place in the battle between Muichiro and Gyokko.

Regrettably, for those anticipating further surprises, the reality remains unchanged;Gyokko has indeed met his fate. Whether it was his own inability for an Upper Moon 5 or the overwhelming might possessed by our esteemed Mist Hashira, there is no denying that the battle has drawn to a conclusive close. Fans must now come to terms with the fact that Gyokko’s presence in the story has reached its definitive end.
Contrary to expectations, Gyokko found himself bereft of options in the heat of battle. Having exhausted all the techniques he had honed, there were no surprises left up his sleeve. Admittedly, his formidable yet somewhat lackluster ability, the Killer Fish Scales, which bolstered his attacks through body hardening, fell short of the grandeur expected of an Upper Rank 5. Meanwhile, Muichiro showcased his mastery of the finest Breathing forms at his disposal. Nevertheless, Gyokko proved too feeble to withstand the force unleashed upon him, ultimately leading to his defeat.
