Those who have already played it are well aware thatDeep Rock Galactic: Survivoris not an easy game. Similar to most of its auto-shooter cousins, this game will keep you repeating the same mission again and again until you find that one great build to defeat the final boss.

Deep Rock Galactic: How To Play The Scout Class

Deep Rock Galactic can be a tough game if players don’t use their class effectively. This guide tells players how to use the Scout class.

Each class is well capable of beating the Dreadnought, a badass boss that appears at the final stage of each exploration and terrorizes the miners with long, annoying jumps. However, this giant bug will only keep bugging you until you find the right builds with the right upgrades!

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor

Best Scout Build

Believe it or not, it’s almost impossible to complete Crystalline Cavern or each other biome in your first few tries, let alone kill the boss. So, you should complete those failed missions with a purpose in mind, which isunlocking the Overclockfor two crucial weapons:M1000andDeepcore GK2.

The latter is the default weapon for Scout’s Classic variant, and your top priority is toupgrade to Level 12and unlock the Overclock. As the name implies, Overclock is a series of special upgrades that a weapon receives inLevels 6, 12, and 18, which offer much better roles with some exceptional stats. Each weapon’s Overclock is unlocked by upgrading it to Level 12.

Other than the above, we also suggest you increase your overallMining SpeedandMovement Speedstats from the main menu, every time that you have enough resources. Movement Speed is quite important for defeating the final boss in Hazard 1 of Crystalline Cavern.

Since Movement Speed is important for running away from the final boss, and theScout classoffers a10% bonus Movement Speed, it easily becomes our top choice for this build. When it comes to the combination of weapons, we suggestDeepcore GK2,M1000,Cryo Grenade, andVoltaic Stun Sweeper. If you have progressed enough, you can also replace the Stun Sweeper with theHi-Volt Thunderbird.

Cluster Grenades

While the Overclocks for Deepcore GK2 and M1000 are quite crucial, you can actually leave the other two weapons without overclocking. TheBig Game Hunterwill focus the shots on the enemy with the highest HP, which is always the boss. Also, theRubber Tipon the M1000 will push back the boss. Keep in mind that shooting the highest HP target is a passive skill in M1000, which is like it secretly features Big Game Hunter. The Favourite, on the other hand, is an upgrade that is only available atLevel 18 of Deepcore GK2. So, ensure you upgrade it enough during the initial stages to make it up to 18 when the final battle begins.

The combination of Rubber Tip and Cryo Grenade will help you keep the boss away from yourself, as well as the following horde, but unfortunately, they are not enough without proper Movement Speed.

During the two opportunities that we managed to defeat the boss with the build above, we realized thatthe proper Movement Speed for escaping from the boss is +25%. The good news is Scout already has a +10% in the beginning, but you need to earn theextra 15%through the level-up upgrades. The image above showcases the full stats of our Alternative Build (with Hi-Volt Thunderbird) after defeating the final boss.

Best Driller Build

What makes Driller incredibly great is his special ability at mining. Driller’s Foreman subclass allows him to gain+2% Mining Speedas he starts mining, and this grows to a crazy number as you continue mining, which makes it quite easy to escape from Dreadnought, even if the path is blocked by rocks.

For Driller, unlocking Overclock only forSubata 120, his default weapon, is enough in Hazard 1 and Hazard 2. However, you must upgrade it toLevel 18, where you will receive a single buff that doubles the amount of bullets that it shoots. This is an incredibly powerful buff that makes Subata 120 a force to be reckoned with.

That being said, Subata 120 could deal with all the enemies on its own. You also need to unlock theCorrosive Sludge Pumpby reaching Rank 3 with the Driller, and then addCRSPR FlamethrowerandKrakatoa Sentinelto your third and fourth slots.

Corrosive Sludge Pump and the other two flamethrowers are your main weaponsto get rid of the hordes, and they really do their job great when you add at least one Overclock to them, though we still managed to beat the Dreadnought in Hazard 2 by only three Overclocks on Subata 120. So, it’s still doable on the lower levels, but you must unlock Overclock for all weapons if you want them to be good enough on the higher levels as well.
