Last year, Behaviour Interactive releasedDeathgardenvia Steam Early Access. It is an asymmetrical 1v5 multiplayer survival shooter where the Hunter, playing in first person, sets traps and tries to kill the four Scavengers, playing in first person, as they gather blood and attempt to survive. While the game had a strong opening month following its August 2018, its playerbase has mostlytapered offwith many Steam reviews complaining that the game is dead. In an attempt to revamp the game, Behaviour Interactive is relaunching it asDeathgarden: Bloodharvest, dropping the price, and adding the T-800 Endoskeleton fromTerminatoras a Hunter Skin.
If you were to buyDeathgardenbefore today, it would’ve cost you $29.99. WithDeathgarden: Bloodharvest,the normal price has actually dropped to $14.99; that being said, those interested in the game can partake in the Free Weekend currently running on Steam and pick the game up at a discounted price of $9.99. While this significant price drop may anger early adopters, Behaviour Interactive is trying to make up for it by giving those players two Legendary cosmetics and a VIP flair. Returning players will also be able to bring “all earned exclusive cosmetics with a bonus currency pack based on their originalDeathgardenplayer level.”
As for new content and changes,Deathgarden: Bloodharvestspices things up with a redone progression system. There are now three new hunters and five new scavengers, all of which have special loadouts, progression systems, and unique stories. XP is now rewarded for all in-game actions now to encourage the varied playstyles ofDeathgarden: Bloodharvest’scharacters. There are also four new Deathgardens preset that will be procedurally generated before each match, keeping the game fresh.
While all of these changes do seem like they will significantly improve the game, Behaviour Interactive has likely learned fromDead by Daylightthat guest characters can significantly boost a game’s notoriety, hence the T-800 Endoskeleton’s inclusion. Players will receive Headgear, Upper Body, Weapon Skin, and Lower Body gear as well as a weapon skin to match the character if they purchase this DLC, makingDeathgarden: Bloodharvestthe closest thing to a cool Terminator game we have right now.
