Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool is set to make his MCU debut with the much-anticipatedDeadpool & Wolverine. It also marks Hugh Jackman’s return to his iconic role as Wolverine. However, the film will be the first R-rated MCU film, especially because of the titular characters’ penchant for swearing and use of fruity language.

During an interview, MCU head honcho Kevin Feige discussed how the Merc With a Mouth will fit in the otherwise PG-13 shared universe. Feige explained that the character’s swearing will not hold him back from interacting with other heroes and here is what the producer had to say about Deadpool’s MCU future.
Kevin Feige Explains How Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool Will Fit in With the PG-13 MCU
Ryan Reynolds‘ performance as Deadpool has been generally well-received despite the R-rated aspects associated with the characters. The character’s debut in the MCUwill also be R-rated with plenty of swearing from the Merc With a Mouth.
However, according to Marvel Studios bossKevin Feige, Deadpool’s swearing and violence will not prevent him from interacting with the rest of the MCU. During an interview withComicBook.com, Feige revealed how Deadpool might fit into PG-13 stories of the rest of the MCU.

What’s fun obviously about the comics is anybody pops up anywhere. But also what’s fun about the team-ups and a Marvel team-up is it’s almost always characters that don’t belong together.
Feige made the above statement, explaining that Deadpool’s use of fruity language might not be an issue for the character’s appearances in other MCU films.

The Marvel boss added that the whole point of MCU’s crossovers was to put people who did not belong together in the same room. As a result, Feige implied that Deadpool’s nonchalant swearing, violence, and humor will provide an interesting contrast to the more PG-13 heroes of the MCU.
Fans React to Kevin Feige’s Future Plans For Deadpool in the MCU
After Feige laid down plans to crossover Deadpool with the rest of the MCU, fans took to social media to draw their own conclusions and shared their reactions on X (formerly Twitter).
Here is what fans had to say about Feige’s plans to incorporate Deadpool in the MCU’s PG-13 stories.

It’d be hella funny if Deadpool just says “fuck,” one time, and than every thing else is just bleeps and he says sometbinf about forgetting it’s PG-13
Here before the army of trolls say that it wouldn’t be Deadpool if it wasn’t R-rated……even though Deadpool has appeared in numerous non R, TV-MA, or M rated projects in his history.

Everytime he’s on a team in the comics or crossovering in the comics, he’s in a pg-13 comic, hell, most of his runs don’t are essentially pg-13
Deadpool can definitely work in PG-13. Do I think current Marvel & pull it off…. No
It works in the comics, I’m sure it could work in a movie
As the tweets suggest, fans are on board with Feige’s plans to make Deadpool’s interactions with other MCU heroes in potential crossover movies a PG-13 affair.
“If Avengers Infinity War is a 9”: Kevin Feige Could Not Have Given a Bigger Compliment to Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s MCU Debut Film Deadpool & Wolverine
At the same time, fans also cited the example of the comics, where the character appears alongside other Marvel characters without his signature style of swearing and extreme violence. Therefore, fans believe a PG-13 Deadpool could work well, especiallywhen his humor bounces off characterssuch as Hawkeye and Spider-Man.
Deadpool & Wolverinewill release in theaters on July 15, 2025.
