Each episode ofDandadanhas the tendency of following the charm and themes it has already established while also finding ways to deliver them without making it seem repetitive. The anime has the power of a smooth execution regardless of how absurd the plot may be. In previous occasions, it has depicted how even in the most serious situations, it doesn’t feel as if the series is shying away from its essence.

In similar fashion, it takes a lot of heart to execute a story that may not impact the overall picture anytime soon. What could have been passed down as a filler was instead turned into a fun-filled ride of cows, loving parents, and love triangles. While this episode didn’t feature a transformation for Okarun, it didn’t need to. It wasn’t Turbo Granny’s time to shine, it was his own.
Dandadan Episode 10 Prioritizes Humanity
Dealing with the consequences of the previous episode’s conclusion, Aira, Momo and Okarun are left with a dwindling reputation. What I personally liked about this part was how much the two girls were worried about what would happen to them and what the others would think of them yet Okarun didn’t. It was a testament of his belief of being a loner boy who has no friends and has lived most of his school life in seclusion.
Queen-Sensei’s introduction made me glad that at least the underage characters aren’t being sexualized. A lot of what makes these characters so interesting to watch is how expressive they are. Aira’s infatuation with Okarun and Momo’s aversion to it doesn’t need to be said out loud because of how perfectly and subtly it has been shown. The blushes, the little touches, they all work in favor of the golden rule of storytelling; show not tell.

Dandadan Episode 10 Removes a Cult Classic Star Wars Reference That Sadly Ruins the Fun for Fans
Aira, who was ready to jump on the opportunity of throwing Momo under the bus in order to save her reputation ended up sacrificing everything she had built to be a better person. The interrogation that Momo’s friends do of her and Okarun is honestly right out of a thriller movie. The episode featured not a single fight sequence yet it managed to make it just as interesting, proving that you don’t always need action to keep the audience interested.Dandadanunderstood the assignment.
Momo’s friends might be the smartest of the lot seeing that they were able to decipher a love triangle in a mock interrogation. Aira has a long way to go and I am not one to warm up to her because of one or two deeds. Redemption takes time but at least that is a start. I am a huge fan of how natural the interactions between Momo and Okarun feel. Whether it is to the credit of Yukinobu Tatsu or the voice actors, the execution perfectly captures what it is to be a teenager in love.

Dandadan’s Unique Approach to Villains
While dealing with the consequences of the previous episode,Dandadanalso brought back the Mantis Shrimp. In a way that is all too familiar to fans now, his intentions weren’t just to wreak havoc. He had a purpose that made him more than just a villain. It was shown through Acrobatic Silky how she would do anything for the sake of her child, even if it meant becoming a villain in the eyes of others. It is the same for the Mantis Shrimp as well.
On a planet that deems him weak, all he wants to do is make sure his sick son has enough blood to survive. It would explain why he was so panicked when Serpo reduced his pay. The reliability of villains is something evenDragon Ballwas able to showcase beautifully in the Buu Saga through the character of Majin Buu, who before his villainous transformation, was just a guy everyone loved.

“I also made sure to include space”: Dandadan Director Took Hayao Miyazaki’s Biggest Advice that Made Him Dislike Hollywood Movies
Interestingly enough, most of the parts with the Mantis Shrimp took place in one setting, showing how well the characters work for themselves, driving the story with their own hands. The end of the episode features a character I am already biased towards, Jiji. While I don’t want anyone to come in between Momo and Okarun, I have all my rights to love the guy no matter what.
As someone who is a sucker for the childhood best friend trope, I was jumping when he came into the picture. Although I am not rooting for him and Momo, it doesn’t change the fact that he becomes a great character even if fans would take time warming up to him. Here’s to Jiji, my new favorite character for no apparent reason.
