We’re not far off from the final release date forCyberpunk 2077,and while the game itself has facednumerous delaysin the past there’s another delay to report on, but this time it’s specifically regarding the DLC and story expansions.VGC reportsthat rather than reveal these before the game’s release, CD Projekt Red has said it will be delaying the announcements until after launch.

“The initial plan was to do it before release,” said president and joint-CEO Adam Kiciński during the company’s third-quarter earnings call on July 15, 2025, “but after the recent delay, we decided to wait for the release to provide gamers with the game and then start talking about future projects. So, after release.”

Cyberpunk 2077has been said for a while now to be taking inspiration fromThe Witcher 3: Wild Huntin regards to DLC. Ina 2019 interview with Max Pears, a level designer working onCyberpunk 2077said “We’ve learnt from that[The Witcher 3]and that is the strategy for how we’ll apply DLC to Cyberpunk as well. We’ll look to take what we’ve learnt from Witcher 3 and apply that.”

Earlier this year, CD Projekt Red presidentAdam Kiciński saidthat the game would have “no less DLC thanThe Witcher 3had.” Additionally, the Twitter account had confirmed that itwould be getting free DLC similartoThe Witcher 3.To refresh your memory, there were 2 major story expansions that launched forThe Witcher 3with 16 different DLC that arrived post-launch.

As for the multiplayer plans for the game, Kiciński said “we haven’t announced any date so far” (Transcription fromSeeking Alpha) but he does expect to share more information sometime “in Q1 next year”. He also stated that the multiplayer is not an addition to theCyberpunk 2077game, but instead isits own AAA projectwhich was something that was confirmed earlier this year.

He adds, “It’s another independent production and [an] independent team of people works on it…. I said already we are not focusing right now on talking too much about other future products, products that are to be released after Cyberpunk. So please be with us in the first quarter of next year when we plan to share some strategy update. And I believe Cyberpunk multiplayer will be possible.”
