Crytek, the developer of the science fictionCrysisseries, has confirmed toInverse.comthat the upcomingCrysis Remasteredtitle is going to include only the campaign from the first title.
After some misleading terminology referring to “remasters,” as in more than one remaster, used in anow-deleted tweet from Saber Interactive’s Tim Willits, fans were left confused by what was going to be included. This typo spawned numerous theories that the game would consist of the standalone expansionWarhead, and possibly evenCrysis 2andCrysis 3,and this clarification has quenched those hopes and dreams for the time being. With that said, though, it wouldn’t surprise me if we see the sequels get remasters of their own andWarheadrelease as a piece of DLC forCrysis Remastered.
The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind for fans of this dormant series. On April 13, theCrysistwitter suddenly tweeted out a cryptic message after having been silent for four years. This wasfollowed the next daywith another tweet, this time slightly less ambiguous, containing a line from the original game. Following these messages, fans decided to dig a bit deeper, eventually leading toTwitter user @lashman discoveringnot only that a remaster for 2007’s title was coming, but also the platforms that it would appear on. Lashman ended up beating Crytek to the punch with their reveal by a mere few hours as theofficial announcement and teaserwere released later that same day.
The originalCrysisbecame the benchmark on how powerful your new gaming rig was. The first question you would get asked was always, “But can it runCrysis?” Even now, this term is used as a joke, but back in 2007, when the game first released, it was a beacon of just how interactive and visually stunning a game could look. Saying that your machine could run it on high settings was a badge of pride. I can’t wait to see new generations of gaming computers built for the sole purpose of being able to play this remaster on max settings.
Crysis Remasteredwill be shooting up the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch this summer with high-resolution and enhanced textures, ray-tracing support, new light setting, and other improved visual features.
