There has been about a year-and-a-half of radio silence from Charlie Brooker and his production company, Zeppotron, following the release of Black Mirror’s sixth season back in June 2023. Many fans of the introspective and mind-twisting television series had begun wondering if six seasons and one interactive movie were all they’d get, but fear not, or get ready to fear once again. Season seven of Black Mirror was officially confirmed last year. Now the first teaser image is treating fans to Cristin Milioti back on the USS Callister for a likely sequel episode coming in 2025.
Time to Return to the USS Callister, Black Mirror Fans
The concept ofreturning to the USS Callister has been floating around since March 2024, however, it wasn’t confirmed the cast would reprise their roles until last September with the official casting listfrom Netflix.
It looks as if all the heavy hitters from the season four episode are returning, Jesse Plemons USS Callister Captain Robert Daly, Cristin Milioti as Nanette Cole, Jimmi Simpson as Callister CEO James Walton, Billy Magnussen as Valdack, and more.

For fans not too familiar with the original, the USS Callister episode is one of the best from Black Mirror and certainly worth a re-watch. Brooker has stated hisinspiration for episodes from modern video games, and this episode shows that in flying colors.
The plot follows Robert Daly, a genius but quiet-mannered game designer responsible for creating the simulated multiplayer reality game “Infinity,” which allows its players to control a spaceship in an obvious knockoff fashion to Star Trek.

Just like most Black Mirror episodes, there’s a darker plot underneath the surface. In this instance, Daly himself is living a sort of double life within his own version of the game, where he has cloned his co-workers and uploaded tweaked versions of them to his game. Thetwist at the endis too good to spoil, but it does set up nicely for this year’s sequel.
Cristin Milioti is a Much Bigger Star Now
It is almost poetic that Cristin Milioti’s career trajectory, especially in 2024, has launched her into mainstream stardom right as this USS Callister sequel came along. Milioti was praised by the masses forher iconic performance as Sofia Falconein the follow-up television series for TheBatmanmovie, The Penguin.
Fans and critics alike were mesmerized by her portrayal of Ms. Falcone, effortlessly switching from charismatic to downright psychopathic as the series went on. Milioti was so impressive she earned her firstGolden Globe nominationthanks to her performance.

Now, she’ll likely star as the lead in the Black Mirror sequel episode to the USS Callister, perfectly set up by the ending to the original. Milioti’s character Nanette has likely led the crew of the USS Callister for years in the wide-open, multiplayer world of Infinity.
The only question that remains is what sort of trouble her crew get into, or what sinister truths lie within the ship. We’ll all get to discover that truth sometime in 2025 when season seven of Black Mirror releases.
