The game helped prove that city building games could still be relevant in a postSim City (2013)era and has seen great success. to celebrate the game’s anniversary, Paradox Interactive revealed that the game has sold 6 million copies across PC, PS4, and Xbox One and highlighted some interesting in game stats four years in the making.

First off, the game has sold one million copies in the last year alone; not to shabby for a game that came out in 2016. When it comes to total playtime, players have spent a combined total of 16,938,045 days playingCities: Skylines. That’s over 46,000 years!

As for more gameplay specific numbers, 39,733,045 cities have been built to contain over 2,185,317,000,000 in-game civilians. 2,185,317 cites were able to reach the rank of Megalopolis, 7,007,128 Paradox Plazas were built in them, and they all likely contained a wind turbine, which is the most popular building inCities: Skylines. Finally, a staggering 175,970 mods have been created for the game.

After revealing all of theseCites: Skylinesstatistics,Paradox InteractiveProduct Manager Sandra Neudinger said that the developers “never dreamed how far players would take it,” and thanked the active community for being the “heart and soul of the game” before sayingCities: Skylines' developers are “just here to give them the tools they want and need to make it their own.”

Paradox’s Community team is also celebrating this anniversary by holding a contest on social media where players can submit Chirper designs, with one actually making it into the game.Cities: Skylinesis currently available for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
