However, when the director thought about it, he realized that heist movies often didn’t have much of an emotional undertone. These heist movies were made for fun and there was no need to explain the logic behind some unrealistic things (viaWired).
I eventually realized that heist films are usually unemotional. They tend to be glamorous and deliberately superficial.

He further stated that when he wrote the tragic love story of Dom Cobb journeying to meet his wife and kids, that’s when he realized that a simple heist movie wouldn’t work with this emotional story.
