The recentMy Hero Academiaanime episodes have created a lot of hype in the anime industry because of the ongoing battle that marked the beginning of the series’ conclusion. The professional heroes confronting All for One and Shigaraki Tomura to stop them have gathered a lot of traction, even though the anime still has a long way to go before it reaches the end.

While the build-up for the heroes vs. villains battle is quite strong, the one thing that has become the highlight of the current season of the anime has nothing to do with the fight. This highlight comes from the English-dubbed version of Camie Utsushimi, a second-year student at Shiketsu High School.
Camie is a character who is known to use trendy slang words reflecting her carefree teenage girl attitude. And when she got featured in the dubbed version, her use of slang created a mixed reaction amongMy Hero Academiafans. Not only that, even the scriptwriter of the series’ dubbed version found it challenging to adapt her role.

Camie Utsushimi Makes Herself Recognized
Camie Utsushimi was first introduced inMy Hero Academiaduring the Provisional Hero License Exam Arc, where she was drugged and impersonated by Himiko Toga. As the story moved forward, she made quite a few appearances, but none of them had any major impact on theMy Hero Academiastoryline.

However, it was during the Final War arc, when students from Shiketsu High School made an entry into the war to save Hawks from All for One. Camie is also one of the students and is currently in a battle against the protagonist. Her performance has garnered a lot of attention for her, but it’s not because of her quirk or herfight against All for One.
The attention she is getting is primarily for her dubbed version, where she is seen using words like rizzcake, unalive, snack, grief era, etc. This has gotten a mixed reaction from fans, as some of them liked the new kind of dub adaptation, while others mocked it for hurting the seriousness of the situation.

My Hero AcademiaDub Scriptwriter’s Opinion of Camie
Camie’s dubbed performance instantly became popular on the internet, catching the attention of Jeramey Kraatz, the dub scriptwriter forMy Hero Academia. Kraatz shared atweetpointing out the challenge he had to face while adapting Camie’s slang words in the anime series. He also pointed out that although it was difficult, it got him thrilled.
Kraatz stated:
Camie’s slangy lines are super challenging to adapt, but I’m pretty thrilled I got to introduce the term “rizzcake” to the MHA dub.
Camie’s use of trending slang words is not unique to the anime series. It actually originates from the manga whereKohei Horikoshicreated her in a way to reflect the stereotypical high school teenage girl of the current era.
