The Black Ops series withinCall of Dutyhas campaigns known for shocking twists, andCall of Duty: Black Ops 6’s campaign attempts to follow up on that, but where it truly shines is the gameplay elements.
It has the most diverse gameplay of any Call of Duty campaign yet, with various tasks beyond the traditional shooting of enemies. The campaign has you solving mysteries, tricking people with your smooth talking, and sometimes, the game is the one tricking you.

Of course, that’s all wrapped up in an explosive package, with the setting revolving around Operation Desert Storm.
12Bishop Takes Rook
What Does It Mean?
Mission Number
The introductory mission is quite a lot of fun, though unfortunately short.
You fight your way through a bombed convoy under dark clouds of burning oil to capture a high-value target but get ambushed by a private military corporation as you try to leave with him.

You fight your way back a short distance, until a familiar face, Russell Adler fromCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, comes up and kills the target.
However, that’s the entire mission. It’s short and sweet, but mostly short.

11The Cradle
That’s No Place To Keep A Baby
This is about as traditional of a Call of Duty mission as you’re able to get. You storm an opulent palace, meticulously clearing out enemies to reach a bunker.
However, once you reach the bunker, enemy reinforcements come in, and you have to make your way up to the roof to defend yourself until your ride, a helicopter, comes to pick you up.

Depending on how you did the mission immediately before this one, you may have access to a number of powerful tools, such as a reusable Chopper Gunner.
It’s fun and satisfying and doesn’t overstay its welcome. That makes this mission your quintessential, chaotic Call of Duty mission.

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Campaign Review
It is either the last good Call of Duty made, or the first of a new era with good titles again.
10Separation Anxiety
What Is Real?
The two final missions of the game weave in and out of each other, with Separation Anxiety being a narrative-focused mission containing a series of puzzles.
The first part has you on a small scavenger hunt in a dream world and solving simple riddles. It’s easy, but a neat change of pace.
That’s followed by a horror-inspired sequence where you have to turn on 4 generators in a pitch-black room as only a tiny area directly in front of you is lit by a flashlight. There are quite a few jump scares here, which is a bit out of left field for Call of Duty.
That’s followed by you fighting hallucinations in a crater, and again from a helicopter and on rooftops in short action sequences. These odd moments are mainly used to progress the story as the mission Checkmate is also happening, but they are fun.
Home Sweet Home
This mission is actually several intermissions at a safe house. There is no combat, and it’s mostly used for narrative purposes.
It’s an opportunity totalk to your team and learn more about them, as well aspurchase new abilities with money you collectin the more action-packed missions. However, there is some gameplay here.
You’re given a blacklight and told to look around for secrets. Most of what you’ll find are notes furthering the narrative, but there is one fairly complicated puzzle to solve.
Cracking the safe on the top floor. It’s completely optional, but it is the best puzzle in the campaign by far.
8Ground Control
Tank Vs. Airplane
This mission has you making your way through a partially destroyed airport that’s overflowing with enemies. This is by far the toughest mission, with dozens of elite enemies waiting for you.
Once you finally make it to the other side, you have to clear out an airplane of enemies, and this can be an excruciatingly difficult task, depending on the difficulty you’re playing on.
Not only is it a very tight space that also has very little cover for you, but there’s an elite enemy at the front of the plane sending an endless amount of explosive RC cars at you. Enemies will blindly fire at you from behind cover and hit every shot since you don’t have anywhere to hide.
This is followed by getting to drive a tank through the airport, which is as fun and chaotic as it sounds. It’s exceedingly easy, especially following the rest of the mission’s difficulty, but that makes it feel like a reward for a job well done.
7Blood Feud
It’s Personal
The first mission tooffer stealth mechanics, Blood Fued, has you sneaking around the extravagant fictional city-state of Avalon. you’re able to go the old-fashioned way and crouch-walk up behind guards to stealthily take them out, or swim through the canals to find an alternative path.
Once you make your way up to the top of a church tower, you have to identify and assassinate a target with a sniper rifle. This obviously alerts enemies in the area, and you can either fight or sneak your way back to the starting point.
From there, you change locations in a van to take out another, higher-priority target. Once again, you sneak to a specific location with multiple paths, but this time, it’s in a fancy club being used by a criminal faction.
Once you encounter the second target, he runs, and you have to fight your way through the streets of Avalon to hunt him down, becoming a more standard Call of Duty mission.
6Checkmate
Rook Takes Queen
The more action-packed of the two final missions has you defending a safe house from waves of enemies. You have a near-endless arsenal of weapons and gadgets to play with here. It’s straightforward, but a lot of fun nonetheless.
It’s very reminiscent of some of the Spec Ops missions fromCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009)with enemies using smoke grenades to conceal themselves at the beginning of each wave, and of course, your assortment of weaponry.
5Under The Radar
Where’s Reznov When You Need Him?
Vorkuta, USSR
This multi-part mission takes us to a familiar location for the Black Ops series, Vorkuta. Of course, it looks fairly different from its iteration in the originalCall of Duty: Black Opsas it takes place nearly thirty years later and is no longer being used as a gulag, but as a base for a private military group.
You start by using a combination of stealth and social stealth to sabotage the base. You can go about this in a variety of ways, from planting explosives to talking people into inadvertently sabotaging things themselves.
Once the base is sabotaged, the rest of your team can enter by helicopter. You then fight to clear the surface of the base. After the surface is clear, you have to fight your way through the poorly lit, claustrophobic tunnels to capture your target.

At least you can’t blame aim assist anymore!
4High Rollers
It’s A Good Day For A Heist
This is another mission with a lot of variety, and it’s based around a heist. It starts as a stealth mission, sneaking through canals filled with gangsters underneath a casino. Then, it becomes a social stealth mission, with your team having to operate in plain sight to prepare for the heist.
Eventually, you get to the casino’s vault and blow it open with explosives, but now you have to fight your way out of the casino as gangsters and PMC operatives try to take you out.
It’s flashy and constantly keeps you on your toes, with the charm of a heist movie to make it just marginally better than Under The Radar.
3Emergence
Did That Mannequin Just Move?
Kentucky, USA
In an unsuspected twist, this campaign mission has you fighting zombies. Or, at least, they appear to be zombies, but they’re likely hallucinations as it’s in a facility contaminated with a gaseous bioweapon that makes people lose their minds and become violent.
This mission has you exploring four different zones with the assistance of a grappling hook. Each zone has a slightly different challenge, such as finding documents or flipping switches, and culminates with you fighting a special or elite enemy you’d find in the Zombies mode as a sort of boss.
There’s also a horror element, as some of the mannequins that litter the facility will attack when you’re not looking at them.
