It’s August and we still have yet to hear a word from Activision about this year’s upcoming entry in the annualizedCall of DutyÂseries. And while a formal reveal for the 2020 title will have to wait until another day, some new information on what’s rumored to be titledÂCall of Duty Black Ops: Cold Warwas divulged today.During Activision’s quarterly financial call, it was announced that this year’sÂCall of Dutygame serves as a joint project betweenÂBlack Opsdeveloper Treyarch and that of Raven Software. While typically a supporting developer on the franchise, Raven seems to have taken an even larger role in 2020’s iteration ofÂCall of Duty, which isn’t a surprise given that in the past, the game wasreportedly said to be struggling with its development.

At this point, the biggest question surrounding the 2020ÂCall of Dutygame involves its proper unveiling. As mentioned before, the fact that Activision has kept this title under wraps until this point in the year is pretty shocking. That said, we very well could be learning a whole lot more in a few days.

Sony is set to hold aState of Play live streamlater this week on Thursday, August 6, and rumors are stating thatÂCall of Dutyis set to make its debut on this stage. Given that Sony and Activision have been frequently partnering on all thingsÂCODwithin the past few years, it wouldn’t be a shock to see the next installment in the franchise show up during State of Play. Plus, Sony has already confirmed that this showing will focus more on upcoming PS4 games rather than anything related to the PS5, so there’s a good shot thatÂCall of DutyÂwill make an appearance.

Obviously, if that does end up happening, we’ll be sure to inform you of it later this week.ÂCall of DutyÂ2020 still doesn’t have a release date or confirmed platforms just yet, but it is said to be arriving before the end of the calendar year.
