Bleachhad some of the most epic showdowns in the series. But what tops the charts is the Bankai. Tite Kubo swaggered it up, especially through the sword designs and concepts.

Be it Urahara or Byakuya, the characters give off edginess in the most iconic way. This also holds with yet another badass Bankai user. Except, there’s a catch to it.
Not Rose or Soi Fon, but Ikkaku Madarame’s Bankai is wasted in the series. Apart from that, the weapon has so much potential in the series. But like most Bankai, Madarame’s ability has several cons to it.

Tite Kubo’sBleachshadowed this badass Bankai
In their criticism ofBleach, most people overlook the series in several aspects. This holds especially true for its unique power system including incantations and physical combat. But what truly reigns supreme in this aspect is the Bankai.
Kubo gave the characters some of the coolest transformations and weapons in the series. Be it Yamamoto or Ichibei, the characters are legendary in most ways. The mangaka outlined some of the most forbidden and unparalleled abilities in his series.

Of all the coolest transformations,Tite Kubo’sdesign of Ryumon Hozukimaru takes the cake. The series has some of the coolest sword designs along with intricate panels. Despite being deemed “weak”, Kubo excels in this aspect.
Ryumon Hozukimaru is considered one of the iconic Bankai in the series. Along with Unohana and Rose’s Zanpakuto, Ikkaku Madarame’s Bankai stands unparalleled in terms of its formidability. But there’s a caveat to that as well.

Despite its unmatched power levels, theBankaihas its fair share of drawbacks. While it is ideal for close combat, it is a specialized weapon that can falter in long-range combat.
Besides, it is prone to breakage as seen in Madarame’s duel with Edrad Liones. That is, however, not the only caveat to that considering Madarame’s secrecy which eventually led to his downfall. Despite his strong Bankai, his reticence proved to be redundant and fatal for other characters in the series.

Reticence is redundant in this Shinigami’s case
Bald he may be, but weak he most certainly isn’t. Madarame’s most annoying trait is his secrecy and reticence regarding histrue abilities. This vexed most characters including Kenpachi Zaraki and his other squad mates.
While it was purely out of his devotion to his captain. it also proved to be fatal. This holds especially true with the character’s secrecy regarding his Bankai. For the fear of being promoted, Madarame left no stone unturned to hide his true strength.
Apart from Bankai, he is highly skilled in hand-to-hand combat. He also holds mastery in shunpo along with his fluency in combat. Additionally, hisendurance and strengthcoupled with his agility set him on par with other captains in Seiritei.
While he wields one of the most badass Bankai, there are several downsides to it. His broken Bankai is one of the major pitfalls compared to other characters. Except for Tomamura and Hitsugaya, no other Shinigami has been able to retain their Bankai after it is broken.

Furthermore, the status of his Bankai remains uncertain especially since it is broken. While Akon retained its form, it remains weak for more reasons than one. Safe to say, one of the most legendary abilities was wasted on Madarame’s character.
Bleachis available for streaming on Crunchyroll. The manga is available for reading on Viz Media.
