Donning the garb, etiquette binds your form, no need for cultivation.

8Cloud-Patterned Stone Staff

A Great Early Game Weapon

Unique Effect

Moderately increases the Damage executed by charged Smash Heavy Attacks.

While theCloud-Patterned Stone Staffdoesn’t boast incredible power, nor does it have a flashy unique effect, it’s a great early-game weapon because of its ease of use and the fact that it gives you a modest power boost and defense.

This weapon is also extra strong if you’re using the Smash stance, a style I consider the most accessible and reliable for early-game.

When under pressure, most players would run around while charging their heavy Smash attacks, so you’d be remiss not to use this weapon if you’re still trying to get used to this game’s combat.

But getting this weapon might take some effort. You’ll need to go around Chapter 2,find the six Buddha eyeballs, and beat the secret SShigandangboss. Doing all these steps unlocks this staff for you to craft. Not only that, you’ll be on the path to unlocking a powerful weapon later in this list.

7Chu-Bai Spear

Stab, Stab, Stab

Integrate spear techniques into Light Attack Combo and increases the Damage dealt by Thrust Stance moves.

While it’s not a flashy weapon, theChu-Bai Spearis a great mid-game weapon to obtain because it completely changes the light attack combos thanks to its unique effect.

It’s one of the only two spear weapons in this game, and it deserves a spot on this list because of how game-changing it is.

While the spear offers some variety in attack combos, it doesn’t offer anything else outside of that except for a decent attack stat.

blackmythwukong-001

Still, it’s a solid mid-game pick, especially when you’re starting to get the hang of using the Thrust Stance.

6Chitin Staff

Small Health Steal

Critical Hit Chance

Upon a successful hit with charged Heavy Attack, each Focus Point cost slightly recovers Health.

A goodBlack Myth Wukongplayer knows the necessity of crafting to get the best possible weapons to mix up your builds. Some weapons have an upgrade tree with weapons that share a common trait or theme. Think of these upgrades as evolutions that lead to much more powerful weapons.

TheChitin Staffis one of the simpler weapons that doesn’t require a lot of elbow grease to get. This insect-themed weapon is great for mid-game, and is useful for any player looking to increase their survivability thanks to its unique effect.

Don’t sleep on this weapon, because its evolution leads to one of the most powerful weapons in this game.

5Golden Loong Staff

Call Upon Draconic Might

Moderately increases the Damage dealt by all Pillar Stance moves. A loong can be summoned to execute Thunder at the enemy at Pillar Stance Heavy Attacks that cost 3 or 4 Focus points.

If you’re a fan of the Pillar Stance, then this weapon is for you. Boasting a base attack of 108, theGolden Loong Staffrelies heavily on the fact that you’re using the Pillar Stance.

As its unique effect says, perching on your staff and spending three or more Focus points will summon a loong in the resulting slam, dealing a respectable amount of damage. Not only that, it’s pretty flashy.

But getting this weapon isn’t easy, because you need tobeat all the secret Loong bossesto unlock the crafting recipe.Yellow Loong, the final boss of that quest, is considered one of the toughest bosses in the game.

4Tri-Point Double-Edged Spear

Locked Behind An Impossible Boss

Integrate spear techniques into Light Attack Combo and increases the Damage dealt by Thrust Stance moves; Upon performing Forceful Thrust shoots swords from the staff to attack.

Last of the only two spears, theTri-Point Double-Edged Spearmight be the hardest weapon to get, because it is locked behindErlang Shen (Part 2), the hardest boss in the game. Seriously–He’s no joke.

Like theChu-Bai Spear, it replaces all your basic attacks with spear techniques, so this weapon is perfect for any player who likes using Thrust Stance.

With all that in mind, you might wonder if this spear is worth it. I think so. It’s not THE best, but it’s got a strong base attack stat, offers you an okay crit chance, and has a pretty flashy unique effect.

Careful though–your frames-per-second can take a hit from the swords.

Be careful of these bosses, Destined One.

3Adept Spine-Shooting Fuban Staff

A Prickly Pulverizer

Upon a successful hit with charged Heavy Attack, each Focus point cost slightly recovers Health, attacking enemies nearby with spines shooting from the staff.

The first Mythical tier weapon on this list. TheAdept Spine-Shooting Fuban Staff(try saying that quickly three times) is arguably one of the best weapons in the game, and for good reason.

Named afterthe giant secret Chapter 2 beetle boss, it’s an insect-themed staff that is a great pick for end-game content and beyond.

Boasting the highest crit rate of all weapons, this staff gives you extra survivability upon using Focus points, as well as giving it a little bit of AOE potential upon heavy attacks.

There is a catch, though: this weapon is a New Game+ exclusive, meaning you’ll have to beat the game first to unlock it.

Once you do, be sure to beat secret bossesFubanandThe Scorpionlord. If you’ve accumulated enough power, beating them should be no sweat.

Ooh, that’s gotta sting!

2Dark Iron Staff

The best Offense Is Good Defense

Chill Resistance

Burn Resistance

Considerably increases attack based on Defense.

TheDark Iron Staffis another end-game weapon that is pretty expensive to craft, but it’s well worth it.

While its unique effect might not seem impressive at first glance, it is incredibly powerful for players wearing the Bull King armor set, which has the highest Defense stat out of all armor sets, and grants extra Defense when taking damage. It’s like the armor and weapon in question were made for each other.

Keep an eye out for the following armor pieces:

I highly recommend saving up onFine Gold ThreadandCelestial Ribbonin your playthrough, since those are pretty rare. I made the mistake of spending those resources on other things, and now I have to collect more on my subsequent playthroughs.

Combine the two and any extra Defense boosts likeGold SpikeplateandWandering Wight, and you get a dangerously potent Attack boost. With this synergy, you are not only borderline unkillable, but you also hit like a freight train.

This weapon has two major drawbacks: it doesn’t offer any crit chance, and it is a New Game+ weapon. Just ensure you beat theBishui Golden-Eyed Beast, too, and collect enoughThe Bull King’s Iron Horn.

1Jingubang

Ao Guang’s Destined Gift

The gauge of the 4th Focus Point no longer depletes over time.

And here we have it–Wukong’s signature weapon, theJingubang Staff. Combined with the Wukong armor set, you gain a fraction of his power, but even a fraction is more than enough.

This weapon’s unique effect holds onto your fourth Focus point indefinitely. Without it, you only have ten seconds before it dissipates over time.

Now, all you need to do is wait and find the perfect moment to unleash a powerful attack.

Remember that the Jingubang cannot reach its fullest potential without the armor set and vice versa. Rest assured, acquiring all five items is part of the main story in Chapter 6, so there’s no way you’ll miss them. Here are the armor pieces you’ll collect:

The max armor bonuses are also amazing; any crit cools down your Spells, and casting Spells increases your Crit rate. Wukong is just built different.

Fun fact: the Jingubang shares the same stats as Erlang’s spear, a nod to the fact that Wukong and Erlang are equally matched as eternal rivals in the original story.
