The new controls are deemed unintuitive, and the meta revolves around spamming jabs and straights. Career mode is criticized for being a copy-and-paste job from UFC 4, offering limited voice options and lacking variety in fight introductions. The absence of diverse referees and shortened fight introductions is seen as lazy design.
All fighters and styles are portrayed as identical, with animations mirroring UFC 4. Ground and pound/transitions are criticized, and the graphics receive mixed reviews, with notable fighters looking better than lesser-known ones. The positives include praise for the submission system’s fluidity and added gore/blood effects. However, the online career mode is labeled as half-baked.
