The focus crosses over the hill to be welcomed into a magical, vast, and vibrant basin. Neighbors are always friendly, resources are plentiful, and fun times are to be had at every turn. For Disney fan of all ages, exciting references and adorable conversations await. As dodelicious Wonderland Cookies, of course.

Along with references and conversations, many furniture, clothing, and decoration items are eager to be purchased. Of course, all of these shiny new things cost money. As such, players will want to set themselves up effectively (and so in a profitable manner) from the very beginning of their experience. These tips will help you do just that.

8Create And Follow Paths To Specific Characters

As with many games, most of the quests in Dreamlight Valley come from the characters in the game. Finding characters to advance or turn in quests can feel daunting, with the expansive map full of crooks and crannies (not to mention the different personalities' potential constant movement).

To pin down a Disney pal, select them with the cursor on the map. Upon exiting the map, a purple-ish glowing trail will lead you to whoever you seek. When searching for someone on the map, check overlapping character icons, as they could hide the objective.

7Hang Out With The Characters While Completing Their Quests

The many challenging questsin Disney Dreamlight Valley will take you all over the available terrain, even into some secret areas only accessible by cave or raft. To make the expedition easier on yourself, ask the originator of the mission to hang out, so they will be right by your side, following you around, ready to speak with you whenever necessary.

Significantly, there is also the bonus of leveling up with them while hanging out, and they are conveniently located with their favorite items of the day. Close friendships pay off.

6Friendship Will Level Up While Doing All Actions

While on the topic of hanging out with neighbors, why not do everything with a buddy? Performing the activity that gives you the Hangout Bonus (more on this later) is undoubtedly wise, and even completing actions that do not reward a friend’s specific bonus will level up your friendship with them, albeit not as much.

The same applies to the art of gift giving. A given character’s favorite item of the day enhances this level more. A similar item (such as the same flower in a different color) offers slightly less of a bonus, but it’s still certainly worth being generous with your new friends.

5Don’t Forget To Gather Materials

Among the many beautiful natural resources in the land, there are self-spawning sources of income to be harvested. Once these sources are stocked, they do not generate anymore, so it is crucial to collect them whenever they’re ready.

Plants not planted in the ground (such as banana trees and blueberry bushes) can be moved via the Furniture tab of the inventory, so making a garden ensures you have easy access to such resources. Some plants bounce to show ripeness, but all will show up as a green apple icon on the map. Watch Moana’s post on Dazzle Beach, Wall-E’s garden in Peaceful Meadow, and the various fruit and herb plants.

4Feed Characters In Chez Remy To Level Up With Them

A delicious side activity available in Dreamlight Valley is serving customers at the restaurant, Chez Remy. Conveniently, a stove is inside, so there is no need to go to your setup and bring the food back to the establishment. While only a few folks are in there at a time, those who are present can be served a dish to increase their friendship level.

If the friendship level is complete, the meal will not increase it. What it will do, however, is make space in the restaurant for a character who could still use a little more quality time with you.

3Feed Critters To Get Them As Companions

Small critters can be found, fed, and befriended all around the varying environments in the valley. OnDazzle Beach (home of ever-useful Seaweed), baby sea turtles scurry across the sand. In Sunlit Plateau, vibrant sunbirds zip and bop around. Energetic raccoons dash all over the Forest of Valor to their next point of interest.

If you can catch up to one of these little creatures, feed them their favorite food, and they appear as a companion in the Critter library of the wardrobe inventory. Fortunately, if an individual animal is missing from your critter library, you can locate it in the Collections tab of the pause menu. The bottom will say when that animal will be present.

2Put Chests Outside To Store Seeds And Ingredients

Setting up chests outside can assist with keeping a clean and organized valley. Place a crate next to a crafting table, so all materials are in one place, and its location will serve as a reminder of what is inside. For instance, you could put a chest next to Moana’s fish station to store seafood and other fish possibly needed for recipes.

Another ideas is to include storage in a garden configuration, to have bags of seeds housed where they’re needed most. Of course, chests can also be placed inside your home to store dishes, gems, or anything your inventory currently does not have room for.

1Always Have A Buddy With A Hangout Bonus That Matches The Current Activity

Even more humdrum chores can be more fun with a friend! Get the most out of performing duties by having a character tag along with a Hangout Bonus that matches the task. The bonus in the name applies to the increased item output, and will boost friendship values slightly more than performing other chores.

For example, having a gardening buddy while harvesting crops can double the amount you receive. The same can be said while fishing with a fishing buddy and mining with a mining buddy. It can be tricky to match friends in this way when starting out, but it’ll supercharge your progress.
