The two-minute gameplay trailer showcases The Dark Knight’s wide arsenal of gadgets and weaponry and highlights his hand-to-hand combat.
From dodging and punching to tossing Batarangs mid-fight, it seems likeArkham Shadowaims to encapsulate the core mechanics of the franchise’s arguably best game,Batman: Arkham Asylum.
The developer also states this on the game’s page onMeta Store, highlighting that the developer ‘‘Camouflaj has reimagined the core Arkham experience…drawing particular inspiration fromBatman: Arkham Asylum.’’
In addition to drawing inspiration from it,Batman: Arkham Shadowalso takes place before the events ofArkham Asylumand is positioned right after the occurrences ofArkham Origins.
This period aligns with Bruce Wayne’s introduction to the role of The Dark Knight, patrolling the streets and rooftops of Gotham City. As the young Batman, his mission is totake down the villain Rat Kingand his crazed cultists, who roam the city and wreak havoc.
Brawn And Brains Will Be Required In This Arkham Epic
Although it seems like a ton of fun,Batman: Arkham Shadowwon’t be all about punching and shooting out Batarangs as a billionaire clad in expensive armor.
The upcoming VR game also features the beloved Detective Vision modeand offers a sense of exploration in its interconnected level design, also inspired byother Batman games.
Alongside the Detective Vision,Roger Craig Smith returns to breathe life into The Dark Knight again.Troy Baker’s distinct voice can also be heard in the trailer, where he takes on the role of Harvey Dent. The impressive voice cast also includes Tara Strong as Harleen Quinzel, and Martin Jarvis as Alfred, Bruce Wayne’s dutiful servant and mentor.
Batman: Arkham Shadowis exclusive to Meta Quest 3,meaning that the older iterations of the VR headset are probably not powerful enough to take on Gotham City in all its glory. Meta says it will also'‘push Meta Quest 3 to its limits while giving players an up-close look at Gotham.’'
