Baldur’s Gate 3is sprinkled with magic items that you will find throughout your journey. While some of these items appear useless, they are actually very powerful if you use them in the correct way.
Since patch 8, some magic items have received a noticeable buff or have at least found new life, thanks to theadditional subclasses that were added.
One such item that now has a purpose is theRing of Arcane Synergy- an item that seemingly had little to no purpose in prior updates.
Let’s break downwhere you can get your hands on the Ring of Arcane Synergy in Baldur’s Gate 3, and how you can put it to use.
Where to Find the Ring of Arcane Synergy in Baldur’s Gate 3
The Ring of Arcane Synergy can befound in the Githyanki Creche during Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3.It is dropped byGish Far’aag,the Githyanki soldier that you meet when you first enter the Creche.
If you want to access the Githyanki Creche, you first need toproceed to themountain pass section of Act 1.After accessing the mountains, make your way to the far northwest corner of the map. This is where you will find the Rosymorn Monastery.
When you first reach this location, you will find a group of Githyanki being very unfriendly towards a group of Halflings. After the cutscene, you will be free to access the monastery.
Make your way to the back of the monastery to find the entrance to theGithyanki Crechecalled Creche Y’llek. As soon as you walk into the Creche, you will be met by a group of Githyanki. The one who speaks to you isGish Far’aag, the Gith that has the Ring of Arcane Synergy.
To obtain the ring, you willneed to kill Gish Far’aag.If you attempt to pickpocket the ring off her, it will not appear in her inventory. The only means of getting the ring to appear is to loot it from her corpse.
You can attack the group of Githyanki at the entrance of the Creche without angering the rest of the Gith within. Simply close the door to block the view of the other Githyanki and attack the group at the entrance. This will allow you to get the ring right away without needing to wait until you leave the Creche or angering the rest of the enemies. Leaving the door open runs the risk of causing a fight with the rest of the Creche.
Ring of Arcane Synergy Stats and Uses
The Ring of Arcane Synergygrants the wearer the Arcane Synergy buff whenever they deal damage with a cantrip.This buff allows you to deal more damage with your melee weapons based on your spellcasting ability modifier.
This means that if a Wizard were to wear this ring,they could hit an enemy with a cantrip and then deal additional damage based on their Intelligence Modifier, since that is the modifier they use for their spellcasting ability. Sorcerers, Bards, and Paladins use their Charisma Modifier, and Druids and Clerics use their Wisdom Modifier.
The best use of the Ring of Arcane Synergy is for you to equip it on a melee/spellcasting character. For instance, you can use it on anEldritch Knightto gain the benefit of casting cantrips and using melee attacks.
Perhaps the best use for the Ring of Arcane Synergy is to use it witha Bladesinger Wizard. If you use this ring with the Daredevil Gloves, they allow you to use ranged spells as melee spell attacks. This will allow you to use your spells up close and then immediately attack without needing to run up to the target after using a spell.
