Patch 8 finally added more subclasses toBaldur’s Gate 3, and the community can scream a mighty hallelujah.
Some fan-favorite classes from D&D have finally arrived, and that includes the Drunken Master subclass for the Monk - arguably one of the most fun subclasses for any playthrough and thebest build for the monk class.

Baldur’s Gate 3: Best Cleric & Sorcerer Multiclass Build
Multiclassing the Storm Sorcerer and Tempest Cleric in Baldur’s Gate 3 has some explosive results. This guide walks you through this powerful build.
Today, I am going to be exploring the Drunken Master subclass for the monk and tell you how to build it so you can have fun drunkenly punching your opponents into next week during your next run of the campaign. Just verify to carry plenty of alcohol with you.

Best Character Creation Selection For Drunken Master Monk
First, we need to focus on making your character. Monks don’t value strength, nor do they value having a silver tonguelike a bard.
With that being said, your primary stats that you will want to focus on during character creation are dexterity and wisdom. These will give you the most out of the monk class since they will add to your damage and armor class.

Best Races
When choosing your race forDrunken Master Monk, you will want to focus on abilities that will aid the character.
I find thatGithyanki is the best raceto go with because the Monk class, in general, benefits greatly from its race features, particularly Githyanki Psionics: Jump andMisty Step, due to increased map traversal.Mage Handis also very useful in some instances.

Thesecond-best race to go with is Wood Elf.While the race doesn’t get amazing bonuses, it does give you an increase in your movement speed, helping you traverse the map and reach enemies during combat, something you will need to do frequently. It also gives you additional weapon proficiencies, which are useful in general.
Baldur’s Gate 3: 10 Best Mods To Try In Patch 8
There are all kinds of mods available for Baldur’s Gate 3, but these ones are particularly exciting now that Patch 8 dropped.
Best Backgrounds/Skills
When it comes to choosing your skills, you will want to play into the strengths of the Monk, which are their dexterity and wisdom. I like to chooseAcrobaticsas one of my starting skills, along withStealth.Other good options for the monk includeReligion, Insight, and Perception.
As for your background, you will want to choose something that complements the starting skills that you have chosen. Since I chose Acrobatics and Stealth, I pickedAcolyte for my background. This is forReligion and Insight skills.

Another solid choice isUrchinto getSleight of HandandStealth. Mostly, you will want to choose what fits your playstyle the best.
Ability Score Selection
Once again, we’re focusing on dexterity and wisdom. The rest doesn’t matter as much and can more or less be tailored to how you play the game.
Constitution
Intelligence
I decided to raise my dexterity and wisdom scores to 16 each since they are the Monk’s main stats. I wanted a better constitution score since I knew I would be in combat a lot, so 14 felt right.
My lowest scores are strength and intelligence, because I don’t value those abilities as much as charisma.
Baldur’s Gate 3: All Gear Dammon Can Craft
Dammon is an important character for Karlach, but he can also help your character out too. Here’s all the gear he can craft.
Drunken Master Monk Abilities
The Drunken Master gets many abilities that will aid you in combat, making it a solid choice for your next playthrough.
Let’s break down what abilities you get:
Description
Cheeky Tipple
You are immune to the negative effects of being drunk. Once per day, when you drink alcohol, you regain half your Ki Points.
Drunken Performance
You gain proficiency in Performance.
Drunken Technique
Punch twice in quick succession and grant yourself additional movement, and the benefits of disengage.
Intoxicating Strike
Hit a creature with your bare fists and possibly get them drunk.
Leap to Your Feet
When you are prone, standing up uses only 1.5m of your movement speed.
Redirect Attack
When a creature misses you with a melee attack, you’re able to spend 1 Ki Point as a reaction to make them attack a new target if possible.
Life of the Party
Every time Intoxicating Strike hits, the monk gains Life of the Party, which increases Armor Class and attack rolls against drunk targets. This effect can stack.
Sobering Realization
Hit a drunk target and sober them up by dealing bonus psychic damage. On a successful hit, the monk also loses Life of the Party.
Drunkard’s Luck
When you make an ability check, attack roll, or saving throw, and have disadvantage on the roll, you can spend 2 Ki Points to negate the disadvantage for that roll.
When it comes to using your abilities correctly, your main focus should be to use Drunken Technique right away in battle. This will grant you additional movement and allow you to quickly disengage from an enemy and go to another foe.
Along with this, Intoxicating Strike will allow you to get enemies drunk, thus benefiting you if you have unlocked Life of the Party.
Baldur’s Gate 3: Best Sorcerer & Warlock Build
Multiclassing a Sorcerer and Warlock is one of the best ways to play Baldur’s Gate 3. Here’s how you may build a Sorlock for yourself.
Best Equipment For Drunken Master Monks
There is plenty of equipment to choose from in Baldur’s Gate 3, with the Monk getting some of the best. For this build, you won’t want to pick up a weapon, and instead, you should choose to fight with your fists.
Boots of the Uninhibited Kushigo
The wearer deals additional damage equal to their wisdom modifier with unarmed strikes.
Gloves of Cinder and Sizzle
Your unarmed attacks deal an additional 1 - 4 fire damage. Grants the Scorching Ray spell.
Gloves of Soul Catching
Your unarmed attacks deal an additional 1 - 10 force damage. Once per turn, on an unarmed hit, you regain 10 hit points. Alternatively, you may forego healing to gain advantage on attack rolls and saving throws until the end of your next turn.
Garb of the Land and Sky
While using Patient Defence, you also benefit from the effect of Blade Ward. While using Step of the Wind, your next attack roll has advantage and deals an additional 1 - 8 force damage.
Cloak of Displacement
At the beginning of the wearer’s turn, the cloak activates, granting enemies disadvantage on attack rolls that target the wearer. The effect lasts until the wearer takes damage.
Surgeon’s Subjugation Amulet
Once per long rest, when scoring a critical hit on a humanoid, the wearer can paralyse the target for 2 turns.
Risky Ring
You gain advantage on attack rolls and receive disadvantage on saving throws.
Ring of Blink
Grants the Blink spell
TheBoots of the Uninhibited Kushigo, Gloves of Soul Catching, and Garb of the Land and Skyare all great armor pieces that increase the damage of your unarmed strikes, making them perfect for the build.
Alternatively, the Gloves of Soul Catching can be substituted with the Gloves of Cinder and Sizzle or any of the other elemental damage gloves that are found in the game.
Other pieces of equipment help with mobility and evasive maneuvers, such as theCloak of Displacement, which helps you avoid damage by giving enemies disadvantage on attack rolls. I prefer the Surgeon’s Subjugation Amulet because it isgreat for paralyzing some of the game’s tougher enemies.
Early on, you will need to search forgood gear in chapter one, but by chapter two, you should have some strong gear to help bring the build together. Of course, the build truly shines towards the end of the game when you get more armor and can make it your own.
