Some party members keep running around the field, and it’s possible at anytime to switch to them in battle and use their powers. This will allow you to cycle through your rotations better and stopcombat from getting too stagnant.
Once players have progressed through the game, they’ll unlock a new kind of attack: Friend Actions. When unleashed, these increase the strength of standard attacks, but certain conditions must be in play before they can be used.

How To Unlock Friend Actions In Atelier Yumia
While going through the tutorials, you will eventually unlock Yumia’s Skill Tree, which can be accessed through the menu.
You receive a starting number of Skill Points to spend on unlocks, which can be spread across multiple tags. Shift over to the “Combat” tag using L1/R1 and purchase the Friends Actions I node.
Once Friend Actions have been unlocked, a quest will open in the overworld. Return to your Atelier and speak to Victor, who will be waiting near the door.
This will start a new quest, where you need to seek out a Red Wolf on the overworld, as seen in the map above. Head North and complete the tutorial to unlock Friend Actions.
How To Use Friend Actions In Atelier Yumia
To use a Friend Action, the first thing the player needs to do is stun the enemy. This can be done with ranged attacks or by using items in combat.
Then, the player needs to strike an enemy with an item that they’re vulnerable to. This comes with a severe drawback, as it exhausts the item in the process and also prevents the player from spamming it repeatedly.
However, Friend Actions deal a ton of damage to the enemy, so it’s worth performing whenever possible.
It’s also possible to perform Friend Actions with multiple character combinations, not just Yumia.
However, stunning is vital to the process, and Friend Actions can’t be done without investing time in ensuring stun effects are used.
