With the release of the Season 1 Reloaded update earlier this week, players ofCall of Duty: Black Ops 6have noticed what looks to be an AI-generated loading screen. A Christmas-themed zombie is seen reaching for the screen onBlack Ops 6‘s new Necroclaus loading screen.

However, because the zombie seems to have an extra finger, which is a common indication of images created by an AI system, players have started to speculate that the image is made by artificial intelligence (AI), not by some professional cosmetic designer.
What Can Be More Shameful ThanCall of Duty: Black Ops 6Using AI?
On December 5, Activision released the eagerly awaitedSeason 1 Reloadedupdate forBlack Ops 6andWarzone, which included a ton of new content for fans of the game, Multiplayer, Zombies, andWarzone.

Two new multiplayer maps were added as part of the mid-season update: Racket, a new 2v2/6v6 map for even more intense action, and Hacienda, a favorite from the days ofBlack Ops 4. A new CODmas event, a ton of new weapons for players to acquire, and numerous new cosmetic items were also included in the update.
Unfortunately, the cosmetic items inBlack Ops 6are still causing controversy. Players are criticizing a new loading screen, and there is a lot of conjecture about AI generation. According to a recent tweet, the Necroclaus loading screen, which is accessible through the recently added Merry Mayhem event, shows a zombie with six fingers.

He may be a zombie, sure, but that figure doesn’t add up. Even fans are requesting Treyarch to“count the numbers of fingers on that hand”before pushing it out in the game. Things have gone so far that even theBlack Ops 6 Zombiescast are quittingover AI concerns.
AI Is Going to Be the Future inCall of Duty
Fans are extremely disgusted with the alleged use of AIslop instead of recruiting real cosmetic designers. Unfortunately, despite being a controversial addition to game development, the use of AI tools shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
For Call of Duty Fans, These Are the Greatest 6 Back to Back Releases in Gaming History: “Imagine if they all got remastered…”
Back in April, a new job listing from Treyarch revealed that theCall of Dutydeveloper was looking to use AI tools for its art development. The position for a 2D artist/animator said it was searching for a candidate who is skilled in illustration, motion design, and“using generative AI tools.”It also went on to state that the ideal candidate would“polish 2D art made by humans and generative AI tools.”
Additionally, this is not the first time thatCall of Duty‘s possible AI-generated cosmetics have drawn criticism from fans. BeforeBlack Ops 6was released, Activision launched a new store bundle for 2023’sModern Warfare 3in November, and it was also alleged that the bundle was created by artificial intelligence.

While a lot of fans have been disappointed by the possibility of AI being used inBlack Ops 6, not everyone is shocked asmany fanshave accepted the fact that this is going to be the unfortunate future.
Tough time ahead,Call of Dutyfans!
