We’re a few days into Diablogate and for all intents and purposes, the dust has started to settle. Since Blizzard announced the seemingly cursed mobile titleÂDiablo Immortallast week at BlizzCon 2018, we’ve heard from all interested parties. We’ve heard from the hardcoreÂDiablofansthat feel spurned, the ex-Blizzard producer that thinksBlizzard dug its own grave, and the developers themselves that havecontinually stressedthat multipleÂDiabloprojectsare in the works. All of these narratives came to a head earlier today whenÂKotakureportedthatÂDiablo 4is real and was initially part of the Blizzard’s BlizzCon presentation. Of course, because no part of this story is simple, Blizzard refuted this report, stating, “we can say that we didn’t pull any announcements from BlizzCon this year or have plans for other announcements.“The entirety of Diablogate has, above all, been a giant PR disaster. Whether or not you personally find Blizzard culpable forÂDiablo Immortal’s backlash, it remains clear that the controversy surrounding the game has ultimately cast an ominous shadow over the game. In the face of this controversy, as Blizzard faces a marketing crisis, one upcoming game has already attempted to appeal to frustratedÂDiablofans.Earlier todayÂWarhammer: Chaosbane,an upcoming action-RPGthatlooks incredibly similartoÂDiablo, took a jab atÂDiablo ImmortalonTwitter. Posting an image that included the text “Warhammer: ChaosbaneÂis Not Coming to Mobile,” the tweet reads, “Experience Warhammer: Chaosbane the way it’s meant to be played on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2019.”

The replies are as spicy as you’d imagine. Scrolling through the 274 (and counting) replies toÂWarhammer: Chaosbane’s tweet you’ll mostly find reaction images, memes, and one Twitter user evokingÂWarhammerto state that “mobile games are for chaos heretics.”

Regardless of how you feel aboutÂDiablo Immortal, sometimes you just have to appreciate a good dunk when you see one.
