Tom Holland Wants to Commit to Uncomfortable Roles Outside of Spider-Man
Tom Hollandstepped out of his comfort zone and portrayed an extremely complex and emotionally vulnerable role inThe Crowded Room. This was a departure from his usual action-oriented roles, and the actor had to sink his teeth and commit to the complexity of his character Danny Sullivan.
In an interview withThe Hollywood Reporter, the actor stated that he further wants to commit to such roles and challenge himself as an actor. While Spider-Man has brought him fame and recognition as a movie star, he also wants to do character-driven roles that showcase his acting talents. He said,
“I want to do things that scare me, things that make me uncomfortable. When you do what we do, you have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. I got so used to the Marvel machine and the safety blanket of Spider-Man, feeling like I was protected.
So, doing something like this was incredibly scary, but because it was so scary, it was so fulfilling and so rewarding. Going forward, if there’s something that I feel like I can’t do, I want to do that one.”
