A new job listing for a Senior Game Writer on theElectronic Artswebsite (viaGameRant) seems to have practically confirmed that a third entry in Respawn Entertainment’sStar Wars Jedifranchise is in the works.

Respawn Entertainment, the development studio best known for the likes of Titanfall and Apex Legends, made its first foray into the world of Star Wars when it released Jedi: Fallen Order back in 2019. Published under EA, the title launched to generally favourable reviews from critics, with a solid score of79 on Metacritic. Inour review of Fallen Order, we gave it an 8/10 and called it “the best Star Wars game in years.”

God Of War Sequel May Be In The Works, Job Listing Hints

A personal understanding of God of War games is required.

Five years later, Respawn Entertainment released a follow-up to Fallen Order, titled Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. While the sequel has an even better scoreof 85 on Metacritic, its PC release wasslammed by players for its rather pathetic optimization on PC. The sea of negative reviews led to Respawn releasing an apology statement (something that has become all too common), saying it apologized to players experiencing issues and was working to rectify the problem as quickly as possible.

The real kicker was that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was, originally, scheduled to launch on March 17th, 2023, butwas pushed back to April 28thas Respawn wanted to “achieve the level of polish that fans deserve.”

But as we approach the one-year anniversary of Jedi: Survivor in just a few days, a job listing from EA and Respawn appears to have practically confirmed a third entry in the Jedi franchise. Although, that probably shouldn’t be too surprising.

Job Listing Practically Confirms Third Star Wars Jedi Game

According to a newjob listing on the EA website, which was spotted by our sister site GameRant, developer Respawn Entertainment is likely in the process of developing a third Star Wars Jedi title. While not 100% confirmed, the job listing is for a Senior Game Writer on a Star Wars Jedi game.

The listing states that the position requires the individual to “work with the narrative and design teams to develop compelling and immersive narrative gameplay that fits seamlessly within the Star Wars universe,” as well as all of the other types of responsibilities you would expect from a Senior Game Writer on a triple-a title.

While this is certainly welcome news for all Star Wars Jedi fans out there, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. Shortly prior to the release of Jedi: Survivor, the franchise’s game director, Stig Asmussen, said that he was already hopeful for a third entry.

“I always wanted to see this as a trilogy. How can we take Cal and the crew to new places beyond what we were doing in the first game? We had a pretty decent idea of timeframe where we wanted Survivor to take place, what the stakes were going to be, what the tone of the game was going to be, what Cal was going to be up against, and how the crew was going to factor into that. And there’s ideas of what we could do beyond that as well,” Stig said in aninterview with IGN.

Should a third entry in the Star Wars Jedi series already be in development, it’s likely going to be a few more years until we hear about it.
