del Toro has been the king of dark fantasy films in Hollywood for quite some time now, producing and making films such asHellboyandThe Shape of Water, the filmmaker has explored the concept of the monster in contrast with human beings, successfully writing breathtaking films that manage to have the audience sympathize with the monster in the film. This makes the inclusion of Frankenstein in his filmography very important, specifically because of the humanizing the light Freankenstein’s Monster is depicted in. There could not be a better director who could take a crack at this story in particular.

Frankenstein is shaping up to be an Oscar contender

Guillermo del Toro manages to create stories that oscillate between the art house film and blockbuster spaces pretty seamlessly. Be it films likePacific Rimor films likePinocchio, Del Toro manages to talk about the human in the monstrous and the monstrous in the human, which earns him accolades for his use of narrative media.Frankensteinis shaping up to be a film that continues this tradition in del Toro’s films, which seems tailor-made for the director’s unique brand of filmmaking.

The film will star heavy hitters likeOscar Isaac,Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, and Charles Dance, who are all more than competent actors to carry a project of this stature, under the confident and creative leadership of Guillermo Del Toro.

The actors, coupled with whatever pre-production material has been made public, seem to be heading towards the production of a masterpiece, one that is bound to become an Oscar contender as soon as it is released. Netflix has signed a multi-year deal with the director, letting him produce a host of films with the streaming giant (the first of which wasPinnochio).
